True Confections
True Confections has remained true to its philosophy of making all of our desserts from scratch with only pure ingredients for the past 35 years. We produce all our desserts in house at both Downtown and Vancouver. Cake Delivery-7 Days a Week. I have been going to True Confections for years, both for the quality of their cakes and their excellent and friendly service.

Seasonal favourites add a little spice to their usual menu mix, and have been a good excuse to catch up with my cake buddies every few months (albeit separately in these days of restrictions). Keep an eye out for their matcha cake, and my all-time favourite dessert -- their maple walnut cheesecake!
Services
It seems like only yesterday, but in fact it was a generation ago, that Alanna and Nadine met, and lamented that there were no great places to have fabulous desserts in Vancouver. The year was 1986 and they decided that the time was right to pool together their meagre savings to create Vancouver's first "desserts only" restaurant.
Our cheesecakes without our Graham cracker crust are suitable for coeliac. Our mousse cakes Dark Belgium mousse or our Hazelnut mousse are also suitable for coeliac. All of our products are baked in the same bakery so it's possible that they may contain traces of nuts. Orders need to be placed before 4pm, the day before collection or delivery is required.

The one star is for the food, I went there yesterday and ordered coffee and cakes worth $55. The guy taking order was listening to songs on earphones and had to repeat my order 3-4 times. He sounded like he hates his job and barely cared about customer service. Gave us coffees and made us wait for sugar & milk for almost 10mins. Gave us cakes but no forks to share. I had to get up and get up myself, he wasn’t very friendly at all. Went to DT location day before yesterday and ladies were lovely and provided great customer service. Never coming back to this location.

We've had cake and pie slices delivered from here a few times and it's been great every time! A little pricey (about $10 per slice) but a nice treat!

I ordered a full cake from this store using Too Good To Go app .. paid 11.99$ for a full sized cake (the type of cake was a surprise) . I got a delicious large carrot cake with cream cheese icing. The pick up was very smooth and I had a great experience on take out. I highly recommend this dessert place.

Dangerously scrumptious cakes and cheesecakes. And open till late...making it hard to resist when you have those late night cake cravings.
One slice of cake equals about 3 slices of cake. Carrot cake is perfection. The white chocolate raspberry cheesecake is also amazing and gluten free. With most of the cheesecakes under the gluten free banner.
Hard to say no to if you're passing by and need your sugar fix.

Google says they are open. The signs in their own window say they are open. But they are closed. Used to be a cool place that you could go to and satisfy a craving for something sweet late at night, but has been going downhill ever since they moved from the Alma St location. The cakes are thankfully still very good, but driving over there late specifically because they should be open, only to find them closed, isn't good enough.

This business used to put out great desserts but apparently there are new owners since the original days. The cakes...I tried bites of several pieces...have a sweetness that is so sickeningly sweet. I suspect they are using cheap, liquid sweetener. So unhealthy and the too sweet taste and aftertaste is just awful. Such a shame when business owners cut corners on quality ingredients. Don't they understand that many, many customers will not return?

An absolutely delicious cheesecake decorated with blueberries and accompanied by their blueberry sauce. It has now become a family tradition, which included allowing the birthday boy to take the leftovers with him. There were only four of us at the table, and one 1/8th of cake slice was plenty. Highly recommended!

I ordered the White Savanah Cream Cake as a surprise cake for my son's birthday and later when I asked him for a picture of the cake, he said "mom, it looked so good we ate it right away 😅 " (he and his friends) and they all loved it..., in my son's words "it was incredible" !!!
I think this says it all how good the cake was....Thank you True Confections for making this Mom happy :) !!
(only half the cake picture could be salvaged 🤪)

Was hoping for more. The cake we had was okay (chocolate raspberry) but not sure it was worth $9.50 for a slice. Was getting close to being too dry. I can get something tastier at whole foods for cheaper. The ambiance is completely lacking, very cheap seating (chairs and tables). Washroom was gross. No music playing. The service was mediocre. Even though we were dining in they served the coffee in a takeout cup. I had to ask for cream for my coffee after receiving it, since I didn't realize they have to put it in for you (they should ask you when you order). Was hoping for more...not just cake

Came out for some cake with some expectations and they didn’t disappoint us. The only thing was that the chocolate food devils cake was too sweet for me. But on the upper side, the cakes were good. I would recommend for special occasions.

Horribly slow service, the girl didn’t know where anything was and was the only worker. Took 25 minutes to get 5 pieces of cake over thirty minutes to get my London Fog. The atmosphere is depressing and definitely not as welcoming and warm like the true Confections on Alma. Then at 10,:37 says she is closing and kicks us out when we were not even done our cakes and stands there waiting for us to leave. Very unprofessional business as her friend stood behind the counter waiting for her. The place is suppose to close at midnight. Top it off the strawberry cheese cake tasted old.

I haven't been here since COVID started. Wow, you guys fell off a cliff. The two waitstaff were not aware of when your shop closed (midnight). The place was messy and cluttered with packages and boxes openly in view of the customer's dining area. The cake display case was cluttered and messy.
The cakes themselves were old and stale. The slice we received for 10 dollars was absolutely insultingly pitifully small. What happened, guys? Even one year ago, you were serving slices four times the size for the exact same price. I understand shrinkflation, but you've lost any modicum of value here with

Ordered a strawberry shortcake for my wife's birthday. The cake was fine, but when I picked it up, I pointed it out in the fridge and the person behind the counter just took me at my word that it was mine without asking for ID or anything. Made me think that someone could easily go in, lay claim to one of the cake orders, and get away with it, given that they're already paid for.

Called ahead asking if they have a triple berry pie in stock for purchase. She confirmed they had a whole pie and that I would have to buy a whole pie and can't just get a slice or two. I confirm again they have this specific pie and she says yes and she'll set it aside for me. Awesome!

I show up and a lady, not the one I spoke with, tells me they don't have a pie for me. I told her I called about 30-45 mins earlier to confirm. She checks my name and says I'm not on the list. Then she tells me that I needed to order 24hrs in advance so she can't give me a pie. Well that

Ordered a cheesecake for a birthday 5 days ahead of time. Arrived early but wasn't a problem at all. I was phoned 15 minutes before they arrived and contacted again once they were outside. The cheesecake was perfect and so was the strawberry topping. Will order again. :)

The portion size has been steadily decreasing for months. So much so it's no longer worth it to make the trip. Also, the frosting on the Diplomat cake sometimes barely covers the cake. Quality control is lacking. Too bad. Skip.

Was super disappointed. Horrible service. We went for late night cakes, and there were hardly any good kinds, so word of advice -go earlier in the day. It was so hot in the seating area I was sweating , and my cake came out looking all melted as the plate was fresh out of the washer. Not impressed at all.

It was my Father's birthday and he was visiting town, so I decided to splurge and get us some fancy cake.
Three kinds appealed to him - so I said, let's get three slices! Really was a financial splurge for me, but it was a special occasion so I felt great about it...until we ate the cakes.

Coconut: while the flavour of the custard between layers of cake was very nice and coconut-y, the cake was awfully dry (as if it had been there for a couple days)
Diplomat: I was especially excited about this one, as I've had diplomat cake from elsewhere and loved it. This one was okay. The flavour

I really like this place, I've ordered cakes from them before but I have never actually gotten just a slice from them before. On the Friday night I went there was only one person taking orders and cutting all the cakes for the people in takeout and in the restaurant, which meant that the service was a bit slow, disappointing but understandable. I got the chocolate raspberry cake and it was delicious, $9.50 is a bit expensive for one slice of cake, it was a sizeable piece but I'm not sure if it's worth it. The two cakes I've ordered before came out great, but don't know

If your looking for the best desserts in town look no further, they have amazing cakes. Personal favourite is the White Savannah, soft fluffy a definite sharing plate. Now here comes the Negative this place is completely understaffed for a Saturday Night with one server handling the whole place. I did see 2 other people in the back and they count care any less about how busy it was upfront. I ordered 2 drinks and didn't get them till our dessert was done. Luckily I wasn't that thirsty. True connections can do a lot better than this with customer service and only for this reason alone

So this store opened its door in 1889 and its family owned. Its Gem of a place and has two locations. For sure denman street cafe is more chic and cosy compared to casual ambience of broadway one.

Either ways the Café s are adorable. With no line up to wait, the moment we stepped in , we were sitting in the busy, wondrously aromatic restaurant. sorry sweet aromatherapy place. Lol

I mean really, my eyes ogle out looking at the sweet n smelling all sweet in there. Good choices on thr menu. So u can pick a whole pound or two or more cake or a slice coupled with a drink. Hot , cold or alcoholic

I'm torn between giving this place 3 or 4 stars, so I'm rounding up.

If you like cake (and, let's admit it, who doesn't????), this is a decent place to visit. They have a large selection of cakes baked on-site (while I was recently here, deciding on what cake slice to bring home, the door to the rear bakery area was open and I saw the bakers working at this massive floor-mounted batter mixer of sorts. Cool!). The selection of cakes in the display was noteworthy, and all of them looked amazing. Deciding on one was difficult.

Unfortunately, the guy behind the counter was of

Alright so this place is pretty awesome. Parking, not so much. The lot is small, and I would advise trying to find street parking nearby and walking over instead. Now let's move onto the good stuff.

Inside is nice and cute with normal table and chairs. On a sunny afternoon the place was pretty empty and we got the pick of seats. Options were plentiful, prices were a little high, but granted for the area, you're paying for the experience.

I would recommend getting the Devil's Food, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter cheesecake. Drink wise, can't go wrong with a good old fashioned

Desserts are a favorite of mine. Three things that can always make me feel better #1 Wine #2 my bunnies Loki and Kiki #3 Dessert!!!

True Confections is the home of the best Peanut Butter Cheesecake I have had since the Cheesecake Factory Days back In Kelowna (long since closed )

If you love PB AND you love cheesecake, this is my top pick of dessert at TC and for cheesecake in general!!

It will run you about $7.50-$7.95/piece and worth every freakin' bite!! It's a nice and heavy, New-York style of cheesecake, that isn't too sweet and is super creamy. Pieces are a good size.

While I'm not a huge fan of dessert normally, True Confections is a decent choice in this city.

Parking is available in the strip mall parking lot (limited spots), as well as the side streets.

The interior is dim and quiet. Great for conversation. It can get a bit full on the weekends though.

The cake slices are quite tall, and can be too much for some. Sharing is recommended.

Some of the flavours of cake can be a bit too sweet. Best to stick with some of the lighter choices if this is the case. Of the 3 I tried, only the chocolate hazelnut one was too sweet. The fresh fruit cheesecake

I have to say nothing really changed much here in terms of decor compared to 7 years ago. Last time I was here I was with a group of friends and yesterday when I came again with a group of friends. The setting or atmosphere is great for small group meetup. He place is not loud.

Desert wise it's not bad. We ordered three items and shared it. THe toffee pudding was really good. I ordered the terimisu and that was yummy. I got to try my friend cheese cake, it was very fresh.

All desert were freshly made. Best part is that they are in my hood. Plenty of parking at night. Friendly service.
