Cakes n Sweets is a specialty bakery that puts together the right mix of sweetness and creativity. Designing custom cakes and baking tiny delectables from cupcakes, cake pops, macarons to wedding cakes and birthday cakes. Cakes n Sweets Bakery started as homebased business in 2010, owned and operated by Shiela De Villa.
It all began, when Shiela went on maternity leave in 2009 with her second child. With her passion in baking, she created cakes for her son every month until he turned ONE. Many of her friends saw her cake creations and loved them. Shiela created a Facebook page in 2010 and though social media and word of mouth she gained clientels, more of them were repeat business.

Services
Generally, wedding cakes are is the conventional cake being dished up to the guests at the breakfast after the wedding. It is characterized as a huge cake, different from the usual cakes we have on ordinary occasions. In most cases, wedding cakes are layered or multi-layered and are heftily decorated with icing, beads, and other embellishments that would reflect the grandiose of the event.

My Husband and I ordered our beautiful Wedding cake from Cakes n Sweets for our Wedding at Swaneset on Saturday, September 18, 2021. I’ve ordered from Cakes n Sweets many times in the past for other occasions so I knew I wanted to our order our wedding cake from there. Shiela is wonderful and quick to respond to emails. I sent Shiela reference photos of what we wanted our cake to look like and it turned out perfect! Our cake was SO beautiful and tasted amazing! I come here for high tea every year for my birthday. It’s always such an incredible experience. From the amazing food to the friendly service there’s no other way I’d like to spend my birthday. The food always tastes exceptional. I order the vanilla chai and chocolate macaron and we usually order a vegetarian high tea menu. The bakery smells amazing and the decor has Parisian touch to it! I can’t wait for high tea sittings to open up again here!

We’ve ordered a cake for a wedding, bridal shower, and baby shower and each cake has been beautiful. The flavour is also very good. We’ve gotten the strawberry cream each time for the cake and we like it because it isn’t overly sweet. For our wedding we also ordered a variety of cupcakes and everyone really enjoyed them.

Ordered the cake a day in advance requesting that happy birthday is written on top. The buttercream was quite sweet and the cake was a little bit dry. The first slice was pretty good but we ended up scrapping off a lot of the buttercream to finish the cake. I would come back as the service was really good but I would not get the cake again.

This place is a HIDDEN GEM for high tea and just pastries in general. Their high tea is great value and they give a 10% discount for take out orders as well. The pastries and savouries are delicious, and their scones are the biggest and tastiest I have had (and I have tried several more expensive ones in the greater Vancouver area). The menu rotates seasonally so every high tea will most likely rotate out some treats for new ones.
I have been here in person multiple times and the service has been out of this world. I'd definitely recommend their raspberry honey tea, and their thumbprint

We used CakesnSweets for my Engagement party at the end of July. Overall the cake appearance was beautiful however the quality of cake was extremely disappointing. The icing tasted like pure butter and when the cake was cut it crumbled everywhere. I was extremely discouraged to hear that when the Bridal party contacted the store regarding their cake, they had another disheartening experience. The only solution that was given was a $50 store credit, when in turn the cake was close to $200. I would not recommend CakesnSweets for any Wedding or Bridal needs.

The high tea itself was fairly simple but very tasty; it came with two of every savory for each person - scones, finger sandwiches, mini croissants and mini quiches. The sweets were fabulous - the red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting was so delicious that I ended up buying two full size ones to take home.

I went into cakes n sweets needing desserts for my kid’s birthday party. And I will say I was pleasantly surprised to find such lovely cakes and sweets here. The decorated cakes are very well done and artistic. Whats more is the actual taste, which is just delectable. The kids loved it, but so did the adults.
The location is a bit hidden, its in a plaza off of Barnett highway, beside Creekside coffee. There is plenty of parking at all times too. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed one of the more affordable high tea options in the Lower Mainland. At $21.95, you get a number of savoury and sweet delectables. Once you arrive, you get to choose from a small selection of teas and macaron flavours.
The teapots could be better presented but it did the job. The cheese scones were huge and each person got two. I really appreciated that real Devonshire cream was served. The egg croissant and cucumber sandwiches were a classic hit. The desserts were nice although I found the macarons to be smaller than average. The mango mousse was my favourite.

I ordered cupcakes for my gender reveal and wanted pink and blue icing on top of the cupcakes. When I went to pick up my order, they were scattered and seemed like they didn't even know of my order. The guy at the front finally found it and the cupcakes were not how I ordered them. I also got a bunch of other desserts and spent over $70 there ... was quite disappointed. However, the cupcakes did taste good. I am not so sure I would come back to place a big order though.

My coworkers an I work in the area, and we didn't event realize this place was here for the longest time! To be honest we just thought it was a bakery, but they also serve high tea! So we made our reservations and had a blast today!
One high tea serving ($21.95, which is reasonable) you get 2 scones, which were super moist and delicious, two small cucumber sandwiches, one quiche, one mini croissant sandwich, one macaroon, one chocolate dipped strawberry, one mini cupcake and a one chocolate ganache cup. Oh and of course a personal pot of tea!

If you want a beautiful cake look no further!! This place makes the most magnificent creations I have seen. From adding vibrant flowers to pouting chocolate and adding cookies they have the perfect cake for whatever you're looking for. Not to mention cupcakes!!! And much more. I had two cupcakes and the moist and dense cake was delicious!!! Looking forward to trying more of their treats very soon. There is a large parking lot with free parking. It has some seating outside and inside and is handicap accessible. This place would make a cute first date and is very kid friendly.

I love the food at cakes n sweets! I was in the store when the above woman was "complaining" about her "High Tea" for 1 (yes, for 1) to go! First of all, she was so rude to the staff. I felt that the young woman behind the counter handled her self very professionally. The "customer" kept demanding that Cakes n Sweets were misleading in their advertising. She kept insisting that she should have gotten what was on the "picture". The picture was that of a high tea presentation for 4 people, in the store! And then stated that she got better value at H Mart

I ordered high tea to take out. Not only their ad on the website and store are very misleading, but the front desk occasion young woman was very rude and the owner only cared about money. The size of the sandwiches were not like what the pictures showed, only finger size. I didn't even get the dessert that were posted on the website. I opened the box without touching anything, and I wasn't happy about what I paid for, so I wanted a refund, but was refused. I was recommended this place by a friend of mine who shares the same love for pastries as I. This place was a bit hard to find at first, however, once found you realize that the best places are the hidden gems. Great customer service and decent prices. I bought a few pieces with the intention of rationing them out for the month, however, that never happened. One can say she tried. :) Small shop but nicely laid out.
