My goal for every student is to help them work towards their Black Belt, not only in Martial Arts, but in life. By working towards this goal, we create an environment in which each student develops confidence through accomplishing high, but realistic and attainable goals both in and out of our school.

After seven years in the basement of the St. Albert Rugby Club, the school (dojo) was relocated to its present location, designed and built by Sensei Manuel deSa (with much help from his students). The main dojo, with 9000 square ft of space now includes a 3000 square ft matted workout area on the main floor and a 2000 square ft classroom on the second floor.
The style of karate taught at this school is called Uechi-Ryu. It is derived from a form of Chinese martial arts (chuan-fa) with its headquarters on the island of Okinawa, Japan - the birth place of modern karate. Originally taught as Pangainoon (meaning half hard, half soft), the name was changed to Uechi Ryu to honor Kanbun Uechi (1877-1948) after his death.

All the dojo staff are truly wonderful, and they care. They have excellent programs and have been a great influence to my kids with learning, discipline, confidence, and fitness. (and its not just kids, there are lots of adult classes as well).

This place is sort of becoming a second home. My son started in the kickstart program and I soon followed suit joining the adult classes. The instructors are amazing with kids and remarkable with teens and adults. They are patent, disciplined, kind, and really seem to care about the success of their students.

We have only just begun but already can see a change in our little "Peanut". Looking forward to growing and expanding with this wonderful group of people. Only gone for a couple weeks and feel the inviting "family" environment they promote. They are excellent with the kids and the adults. We are there 5 days a week between my classes and our daughters classes and look forward to it each and every day!
