The Goju system of karate, as taught by O'Sensei Richard Kim, is the central focus of the Academy. Students are taught through high energy training exercises, exciting partner and group work, and traditional Katas (forms). As the body is developed, the mind and spirit grow. Karateka (Karate Students) gain improved motor skills, increased attention span, improved confidence and sense of respect.
The oldest form of martial arts is weaponry. Okinawan Weaponry was developed by the farmers and fisherman of Okinawa to defend themselves against the Samurai. The Samurai had outlawed weapons for the Okinawans, so all of the weapons are items that would have been present in small, rural communities.

Sensei Robbert and his team are truly amazing! You can tell a lot about the dojo because of how happy and respectful the students are. It's also great to see such a wide age range at The Academy of Martial Arts with everyone getting along. The dojo is kept spotless and I wouldn't have second thoughts referring anybody here. Keep up the great work!

I have had the pleasure of knowing Robert Intveld at the Academy of Martial Arts for over 15 years. I have two sons who have trained under him in that time. Not only has he trained them to be fine martial artists, but more importantly, he has taught them respect, discipline and a never quit attitude. I can not say enough of what a fine man he is and what a fine Academy he runs. Thank you Robert.

I started training as a young teenager at the Academy of martial Arts under Sensei Intveld in 1989. My mother and I started training together and were also able to obtain our 1st degree black belts together, a memory that will last a lifetime. Since then it has become of a way of life for me and my family. This school teaches so much more than martial arts - it teaches life skills. Respect, compassion and gratitude are the virtues that are instilled in the students on a daily basis. The Academy of Martial Arts has stood the test of time and since having children of my own they have started training

I've been training at the Academy of Martial Arts for the past 10 years, and it's been an awesome experience the whole way through. The dojo provides excellent physical exercise and practical advice on self-defense, but it's more than that that makes it a good school. Sensei Robbert Intveld offers a structured, welcoming yet challenging environment in his school that encourages everyone, whether they're 6 or 60, to both do and be their best, both inside and outside the dojo. Respect and courtesy are taught as both the first and last thing in karate, and this fosters an atmosphere of community and

I have been attending The Academy of Martial Arts for the past 2.5 years. My whole family belongs. I cannot say enough about the health benefits and the self defense training. But even more than that, the Academy is a part of the community. Sensei Robbert takes a great deal of pride in his dojo and instructors and his personal attention is second to none. My kids have learned a lot about courtesy, respect, community, discipline, goal setting, fitness and martial arts. Karate at WCAMA is the most challenging thing I have ever loved to do.

I have been attending the Academy of Martial Arts for almost ten years and it has been an incredible experience. It has kept me in in great shape to this point and it has taught me countless extremely valuable life lessons as a child, all while being thoroughly enjoyable and fun. The dojo also harbors a supportive and active community unlike that I have experienced before. It has been an amazing experience going there and I cannot recommend it enough.

My two boys have been attending the Academy of Martial arts for the past 2 1/2 years and still love to go. We found out about the school from our neighbor whose husband is a member with the Dojo. This school has given my kids confidence and a great respect for others and their community. I highly recommend this school to anyone and everyone.

The Academy of Martial Arts provides a top tier quality of Martial Arts, mixed with a communal training that is inviting and welcoming to all ages and body types.
As a child, I spent a few years training with Sensei Robert and his disciples. Later in life I returned to train as an adult. I always feel a sense of community and professionalism when training in the Dojo. After 4 months of training, I am going for my first grading. My confidence and physical health has increased dramatically.
I highly recommend anyone interested in exploring different forms of physical activity, as a first timer
