Brad Jones Karate-Do & Fitness Centre
Trying to run the Dojo for these last 16 months has been a challenge. However, we're still here, running Zoom classes all this time for our existing members, unable to take any new members since the beginning of the pandemic. Brad Jones Karate Do is a traditional JKA Shotokan Karate dojo. We have one of the best martial arts training facilities in the world and have been selected as one of the Top 500 Martial Arts Schools in North America.

In addition to JKA Shotokan Karate Training we also offer Aikido, Fitness Kickboxing, Jiu-Jitsu, T'ai Chi, Kendo, Kali and Zen Meditation classes.
Services
Brad Jones Karate Do is a traditional Japan Karate Association (JKA) dojo located in the heart of downtown Newmarket. We have 4 Senseis and 8 Sempai (senior instructor 3rd dan or higher) and several 1st and 2nd degree instructors. All instructors are certified through the National Coaching Certificate Program (NCCP).
Our 8000 square foot Japanese themed dojo and training facility supports the training requirements necessary to produce provincial, national and international champions. The main Dojo faces the west wall, representing respect, which is one of the fundamental principles in Japanese martial arts. The floor, floating hardwood, was built using two distinctly different kinds (and colours) of wood.
Sensei Jones, a 6th dan black belt, is the technical director of the dojo. We have three other senseis, Sensei George Taylor, Sensei Leo Cossetto and Sensei Jon Juffs, who are each 5th dan black belts who have each been training for 40+ years. In our dojo, to earn the title of sempai the member must be a 3rd degree black belt or higher and a teacher.
If you are tired of the gym environment and are interested in challenging yourself both physically and mentally, karate training may be perfect for you. As a result, we have a large, dynamic group of people training whose ages range from their teens to their mid sixties. This creates a comfortable training environment for adults who are looking for the benefits offered through the martials arts.
Martial arts for juniors is great for building confidence, increasing attention levels and physical fitness. We offer a safe environment that challenges our children while teaching respect and courtesy. The traditional nature of our dojo helps children find inner focus and increased concentration abilities, which often improves results at school.

One of the best dojo's around in my opinion. A school that embraces traditional aspects such as discipline but also encourages personal growth, development and goal settings. Anyone is welcome, whether they are new to martial arts, returning after a hiatus or an accomplished individual in their training. We currently bring our whole family, enrolled in Tiny Tigers, another in the Junior class and myself in the adult. If you're looking for a Karate club, this is the place to go.

This Dojo is AMAZING! Our entire family goes there and trains for karate. My kids started there at the age of 5 and it's the best gift I could have given them because they are learning self-defense skills and self-discipline. I enjoyed training there as a mom of three and karate helped me with my personal health issues. The dojo quickly becomes like a family and Sensei Jones is a hospitable, professional, experienced and exceptional leader and owner of the dojo. Our children love going there and the dojo family had become like an extension of our own. We love their events and they are so active

You have everything that one could want in a Karate Do , A great location, great staff and the best Sensei, Sensei Brad Jones,He is a remarkably talented martial artist and instructor, intelligent, patient,so humble and has a wonderful sense of humor. His teaching reflects that he loves what he is doing and his students' skills reflect this fact.Programs provide all children, men and women with an environment where they will be safe, learn discipline, self-defense, self-control and have fun. Lots and lots of fun with a great workout. I give Best Martial Arts Institute the highest recommendation

Positive: Professionalism, Quality
I have trained there for 25 years. I have also been to camps with high level instructors from Japan and received similar instructions. Huge congrats to Sensei Jones who travels almost yearly to Japan to keep us up to date.

Our Kids have been following Brad and the entire team for many years now. We can not say enough about how highly dedicated they are to helping all of their students learn DOJO-KUN (build character, faithfulness, respect). Through the most difficult of times of COVID they did everything they could to keep in touch with us to continue online learning and building on their lessons. It is in the harshest of times, that the best ones rise to the top. They are the best.

I have three yellow belts, all courtesy of Brad Jones. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in a culturally respectful, spiritually attuned Karate experience - make your way here for some lessons. The whole team is fantastic.

I have also trained at this dojo for over 8 years, and the obvious benefits have already been well said by others here: fitness, self-defense, focus, self-discipline. One that really appeals to me is community. There is a community here that includes an atmosphere of respect for all participants, from the youngest "Tiny Tiger" to those of us who only learned later in life that this was a good thing to do. There are Karate-Ka at this dojo who have been training for over 40 years. There is something for everyone, from the gifted athlete: (members of this dojo have represented Canada Internationally
