Services
In Italy "pizza a legna" (wood-fired pizza) is available everywhere, but it wasn't until IL FORNELLO opened their first Toronto restaurant and offered this authentic style of Neapolitan, thin crust pizza that Torontonians were able to experience pizza the way it was meant to be prepared, baked and enjoyed.
For Margie Cook, it's always been about food, but when it became all about plant food, she decided to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) and a Certified Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator (VLCE). A vegetarian since her twenties, her road to veganism evolved over many years.

Believing that creating a happy and healthy life depends in large part on the food we eat so, as an avid food "experimenter" Margie was determined to create delicious, plant-based recipes as tasty as any in an omnivore diet.Convinced that every meal should not only lead to a healthier planet, but also bring you more energy, glowing skin and put a smile on your face, the plant-based foods she has created go above and beyond.
In 1986 IL FORNELLO introduced Toronto to wood-oven baked pizza and the response was overwhelming. From the very first day IL FORNELLO opened its doors our priority has been to provide our guests with the highest quality food and service possible. But we have also anticipated and adapted to the evolving food preferences and sensitivities of our customers.

Average Italian restaurant, typical Italian food, decent service. A nice-sized wine list with a good selection of wines by the glass - I was happy to see two options for Montepulcianos, and a Valpolicella there! There was also an impressive plant-based menu - I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but I was intrigued by, and almost ordered the plant-based rigatoni, with lentil and mushroom ragu. Instead I ordered the salmon main, which was a nicely cooked piece of salmon over roasted potatoes, broccoli, and mini carrots (the carrots could have used a bit more cooking time, IMO. They were a bit too crunchy

Their prices are on the high side but you do get a good size portion of food. My one and only complaint and this happens whether I call an order in or I go there and pick it up (I work about 1/2 mile away), the blond woman at the front counter (maybe in here late 50's/early 60's) is ALWAYS RUDE. She's never friendly and gives off the impression I should be happy to be giving them MY MONEY. I've been ordering from them for many years and she's always like this. She needs to learn customer service and be grateful people like me and MANY of my colleagues continue to support their business.

Good quality food. Plenty of options. Fast service. A vide variety of sandwiches, paninis, pizzas, and an entire breakfast menu. Though the breakfast closes at 11 am. The only problem is the lack of tables and places to sit. It is a great option to take out but anyone with a group larger than 3 or 4 could have troubles sitting and enjoying the atmosphere in this restaurant in the heart of syosset.

Great local deli with a gourmet flair... a little on the pricey side but worth it. Daily specials and regular menu items, from sandwiches to hot lunches to brick oven pizzeria fare... all good every day.

Sure, come here if you like being charged an extra $1 for your salad dressing and topping to be "chopped" or "mixed".
Place was completely empty at 2pm... but I guess management is eager to have their staff get back to twiddling thumbs than providing the simple service of mixing up a salad. Best Market across the street does this for free. Village Hero less than a mile away does this for free.
Like I said, place was empty... wonder why.

Right when I came in, I felt as if this place was very authentic due to the Italian accent of the server. We were seated right away and the restaurant was very tidy and clean. The lights were able to set the tone and hence allowed us to have a very comfortable dining experience.

As we started our meal we were served with bread. The bread was average, nothing particular. I then ordered the Penne Chicken, which was served promptly after we all put our orders in. I loved how light the sauce was! Although I was expecting a heavier and creamier sauce, I loved how mellow the flavour was. The pasta

I had the pleasure of dining here tonight with my husband and 7 month old son. I'm always a little hesitant to take my son to restaurants because he can be quite loud and not every restaurant has a high chair.

The manager heather really made us feel super comfortable. We were late otherwise she even had a table picked out for us that would have distracted our son. Kids at this age need constant attention. I really appreciated this attention to detail from her ! She was lovely !

I've been to this restaurant multiple times however my husband hadn't had the opportunity previously

I am so pleased with their vegan menu! The pizza and pasta is delicious and so satisfying. They always accommodate my modifications as well. Big thank you for that! I wish I could thank the person who makes my pizzas, because they are going the extra mile. When I dined in earlier this year, it was a wonderful experience.

I ordered lunch for my office- about $100 worth of wraps and stuff. I came in the next day and asked for a cup of ice and they insisted on charging me 50 cents... no charge for the straw though! 🙄🙄🙄

Been wanting to try this italian chain for years, im so glad to finally get the chance to.

we came by for lunch (4 of us) & had 4 pasta dishes. next time i do want to try their pizzas though!

chkn parm (typically served w.spaghetti but my friend opted for penne) 4/5 the chkn was a but dry but flavours alright. i feel the tomatoe sauce could've used more flavours & herbs, but its still a simple sauce thats tasty.

penne capri 3/5 is a pasta tossed in olive oil &white wine w.mushrooms, grilled chkn, tomatoes, spinnach. needs a bit of salt and pepper.. wasnt bad but i wouldnt

Good paninis and options. The staff members are very nice, prices aren't bad and the ingredients are good. Pizza and Italian specialties are best, their cold cuts don't appear to be boars head unless you ask.

I'm really surprised that this place doesn't have at least a 4 star rating. The food quality at Il Fornello has been very consistent as far as I know. This is also one of the most packed restaurants in Bayview Village on the weekends. I think Il Fornello is quality for value. The menu items are not expensive (when you compare to other Italian places in Toronto) and the portions are quite big. The service was also fantastic and the server kept asking us if everything was okay and was very prompt.

For the food, we ordered: one Summer Dinner Prix Fixe which included: Salmon with Risotto

If you are looking for a decent italian place - this would be a good option. I ordered a funghi pizza for $17.45. The portions are good and the service was decent.

The funghi pizza had cheese, spinach, and various mushrooms. The waiter also added extra cheese on top which is a must.

I enjoyed how light tasting the pizza was and it wasn't too salty given the amount of cheese on it.

My favorite deli, whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner they have awesome food. Daily creative specials for lunch so you can change things up. They also have a pretty large selection of paninis. They also make pizza, my favorite is the chicken bacon with jalapeno ranch. Try it I guarantee you'll love it. Be warned lunch can get crazy sometimes so you may want to call ahead.

I've been to a few Il Fornello locations and they always have a good atmosphere to catch up with friends. My friends and I decided to try their pizzas this visit and they did not disappoint.

The prosciutto, mascarpone and figs on the Pizza Fichi was sweet, savoury and delicious. The crust was not thick and was easy to eat and fold. If you prefer a knife and fork it was just as tasty to eat that way for my friends.

The pizza ingredients are fresh and the prosciutto arugala pizza looked just as good as it tasted too according to my friend. You can enjoy a good lunch or dinner here with friends

Looking for a quick delicious meal? I recommend this restaurant. The pizzas are thin crust and delicious. The staff aren't the best though. For instance, last night our waiter asked my brother if he wanted extra mushrooms on his pizza. We assumed it was either free, or a small charge for that topping...rather, it was a 3 dollar charge for a tiny bit of added mushrooms.

Other than that, I love this place!

This review is for a lunch special on Saturday.

I felt like pasta, and Il Fornello had a prix fixe lunch promo. For $17, the prix fixe lunch included an appetizer and an entree. I ordered a Caesar salad and a smoked salmon spaghetti. The Caesar salad was average and rich in flavour. The spaghetti was not al dente. It was too soft. Taste wise, it was very tasty. There was lot of smoked salmon pieces and asparagus pieces. The smoked salmon tasted fresh. The sauce was an olive oil and butter sauce with a hint of lemon. It was light in texture and perfect for summer. Even the spaghetti
