Greenhouse Delight Foods grows hydroponic bell peppers on the family farm just outside of Vancouver. We currently have 36 acres under glass which makes us one of the largest greenhouse complexes in the industry. We are a family operation with all members living on the large property. This is now our 7th year and we plan on being in the industry for generations to come.
All our peppers are grown in greenhouse facilities monitored and controlled by computers to ensure the right combination of water, carbon dioxide, light, heat and ventilation. We employ biological means to keep insects from interfering with the growing cycle of our peppers. Essentially we use good bugs to help us defeat the pests that try and make their home in any vegetable growing environment.
The 3rd generation of our family is now growing up on the farm and we aim to be good stewards of their future. Before we could begin our sustainability initiative we needed a definition. After much searching we decided to embrace the definition developed by the World Commission on Environment and Development.
