Nurse Practitioners are Registered Nurses with additional education and nursing experience. Primary health care NPs generally work in community settings and provide primary health care services to people of all ages. They work collaboratively with other health care providers to provide quality care for patients.
We offer blood pressure monitoring and education that can help you understand what hypertension is; the risks and the strategies for lowering your blood pressure. We offer support for lifestyle adjustments that have been proven to help reduce blood pressure and decrease the risk of many cardiovascular diseases.
Jennifer is a Registered Nurse. She graduated from Queens University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc). She has worked on the Neurosciences floor of the London Health Sciences Centre, St., Thomas Elgin Mental Health Centre, as a travel nurse in the United States for 3 years. As well as in the ER Dept. at Thomas Elgin General Hospital, ICU, pediatrics and General Medicine Floor.
Registered Dietitians are licensed professionals, uniquely trained to advise on diet, food and nutrition in many diverse workplaces. Dietitians are the recognized food and nutrition professionals in Canada. Our Registered Dietitians are here to provide education and support in the office or while you are a patient in hospital.
The Stroke Prevention Program at the DAFHT offers in-clinic visits with a Registered Nurse for BP checks and BP management, a Registered Dietitian for nutrition and healthy lifestyle education, and an Occupational Therapist for safe driver screening, and cognitive assessment and rehabilitation. If your health care provider has already requested that you attend this program, you will be contacted by our Program Assistant with an appointment.
