The mission of Lorita Leung Dance Academy is to offer top-notch Chinese dance training in a caring and professional environment. At the heart of LLDA is its faculty - a team of qualified and passionate professionals who value careful instruction, artistic excellence and authenticity of the Chinese dance tradition.
Lorita Leung Dance Company (LLDC) was established in 1970, and is one of North America's pioneer Chinese dance performing groups. Led by Artistic Director, Jessica Jone, LLDC is dedicated to the professional presentation of authentic Chinese Classical, Folk and Ethnic dance, while leading at the forefront of current Chinese dance directions.
Level 7 is geared towards children ages 11-13 years of age, and provide a well-rounded syllabus in Chinese dance that covers elements of Classical, Folk and Ethnic dances. Focus is placed on building a strong dance foundation, with exercises that develop posture, technique, musicality, co-ordination, and presentation in young students.
Lorita Leung Dance Academy offers a broad range of classes for the discerning dance student. We have reputable and established training program in Chinese dance that offers the complete Beijing Dance Academy Chinese Dance Examination Syllabus (CDES) Levels One through Thirteen. In addition to the CDES, our students also have the opportunity to learn new choreography and repertoire in Chinese Classical, Folk and Ethnic dance.
The Chinese Dance Examination Syllabus (CDES) offers students a cohesive and well rounded approach to Chinese dance studies. It emphasizes technical ability (posture, flexibility, strength and co-ordination) through progressive floor, barre and centre exercises. It also introduces students to Classical Chinese dance, which emphasizes musicality, lyricism, poise, and the use of eyes and facial expression.

I’d recommend this academy to anyone interested in Chinese dance. I enjoy dancing at LLDA in many ways and have been dancing there for almost 10 years now. There, I learned how to express myself through dance. I got to connect more to Chinese culture and learn about Chinese traditions, history, and dance styles. It’s cool that they offer different kinds of dance to learn, so you can explore more areas of dance. There have been many performance opportunities too. The instructors are friendly and encourage/guide you through your dance journey regardless of what level you’re at. My overall experience

I have been dancing at the LLDA for about five years, and it is the second Chinese dance school I've attended in Richmond after moving here from China. I was able to continue my CDGES studies, build on my foundations and improve my skills tremendously due to the high standards in the studio. There are also many opportunities to learn about Chinese culture and history, as well as various styles of Chinese dance. I am now studying Grade 13 of the syllabus and have enjoyed every moment dancing here. If you're interested in learning and perfroming Chinese dance, then this academy is for you!

We have been part of the Lorita Leung Dance Academy family since our daughter started taking lessons at 3.5 years old. What impressed me initially was how professional they were. The teachers are all talented dancers who take their craft very seriously, and at the same time make classes fun and engaging. The level of instruction is very high and there are opportunities for the children to perform semi-professionally as The Little Pandas and The Lorita Leung Dance Company. I am so grateful to LLDA for being such a positive part of my daughter’s childhood.

As a mother, I watched my daughter grow up on stage with LLDA from kindergarten to when she graduated university. From not being about to tell her lefts from her rights to dancing solos, I watched the impact long term practice and consistent encouragement from instructors make. I would say that LLDA has a very healthy culture in dance teaching. Lorita and Jessica carefully teach all the girls and treat all the members equally. The students here not only gain dancing skills, but also a good work ethic. I am so happy that the dancing has a lot positive impact on my daughter.

My daughter started Chinese Dance at LLDA when she was around 4 years old and 5 years later she cannot live without it. She absolutely loves Chinese dance, the teachers and the training that has been provided. She looks forward to going to her classes and can't get enough of it. The faculty members are all very kind, supportive, professional, patient, and caring. I would recommend LLDA if you are looking for a reputable and outstanding school.

I’ve been dancing at the LLDA since I was 3 years old. Dance has been a part of my life since I can remember and I can’t imagine not having the academy in my life. The teachers are amazing and there are so many different styles to study. I’ve taken hip hop, ballet, acro, contemporary and Classical Chinese dance here at the school.

I have been a student for about 9 years and can say that I absolutely recommend taking classes here. All of the teachers are passionate and caring, and classes are suitable for people of various skill levels and ages.
I have learned a variety of classical, folk, and ethnic styles of dance and the history behind movements and costumes. There are even classes that aren't Chinese dance such as hip hop. If you're interested in learning Chinese dance, this is a great company to be with

I spent 17 years as a student here, and, from the bottom of my heart, I can truly say that I would recommend anyone–regardless of age or skill level–to consider taking dance classes here! The instructors are highly qualified at what they do, and the high teacher to student ratio also allows for lots of individual attention to each student.

Amazing dance company. Every single teacher is incredibly talented, passionate, kind, and really cares about their students regardless of their age or skill level. The standards expected at this studio are very high and they have the best educators to help you reach that level. They do many performances year-round and often compete, even at the international level (and of course, do bring golds home). I was a student here for 11 years and it was truly like a second home to me with my dance friends and teachers like family. An amazing experience that I highly recommend. :) They even have classes
