We will be donating 10% of sales made on Thursday to The Indigenous Family Centre and Crossroads Learning Centre. The Indigenous Family Centre is a spirituality-oriented organization that focuses on providing support and educational resources to Indigenous and North End families in Winnipeg. Crossroads Learning Centre is an adult learning centre that will use the donation to stock their library with books by Indigenous authors.

We at Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company are committed to local, organic and made from scratch. Tall Grass believes that good food is made when we work with our Mother the Earth in a spirit of gratitude and with loving responsiveness to her needs and ours.
Together with the Earth, those who grow, mill, and bake; those who press, preserve and can; those who slice, saut and cook; those who sell and buy - each person offers a unique gift to the creation of the Tall Grass and Grass Roots Prairie Kitchen products. Our bakeries and kitchen are the meeting places where good, whole food is born and begins to sing its own song.

At Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company we celebrate the ancient tradition of bread making with every loaf. We work with a number of Manitoba family farms, each growing special varieties of local organic grains for use at Tall Grass. This whole grain is milled daily into fresh flour using our stone mills.
Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company is grateful for the love and loyalty that its Wolseley and Winnipeg customers pour into this neighbourhood bakery. Back in 1990, the local community opened its arms to Tall Grass, coming in droves to buy bread and cinnamon buns. Within months of opening, our staff tripled, along with our production of bread.
In addition to our original Wolseley neighbourhood bakery, Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company is also situated at The Forks, a traditional meeting place for thousands of years. In this historic area at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers, Indigenous peoples met, traded and celebrated. We were invited to open our bakery at The Forks Market back in 2002.
A broad range of delicious baked goods emerge from our ovens every day. Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company creates customer classics regularly, while some specialty items are featured seasonally. We invite you to enjoy all our baked goods, and the stories behind them. Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company and Grass Roots Prairie Kitchen acknowledge that we are located on the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Dakota, and Ininiwak.

So much to choose from, should not have chosen lunch time for my 1st visit. Felt rushed by the line up outside (only 3 allowed in at a time) and didn't get a full idea of what is even offered, but did get cookies and cinnamon buns, the underlying reason I went there. I'll have to try again not in prime time.

I love Tall Grass Prairie. I come by here on a fairly regular basis. Their brownies, Folkfest cookies, cheese breadsticks with sesame seeds, whole wheat cinnamon buns, lemon poppyseed cake, chocolate cake and pies are among my favorites. Their pies are pretty expensive but completely worth it (you pay a deposit for the metal pie tin which you can return for store credit). The pies are completely hand made and you can often see people making them in the back. Their bread is great too – they occasionally make potato break which is amazing. Staff are mostly friendly (a couple can be a tad crusty
