Our rooms are now opened to people who are fully vaccinated and 14 days past their final dose of a vaccine approved by Health Canada. Those who are fully vaccinated no longer have to self isolate. The Hotel was completely refurbished in 2019. The result is brilliant-a brand new look that recollects the look and feel of an old-time hotel.

Visiting The '98 Hotel feels like stepping back into the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898 (which is what the Hotel's name refers to). The '98 Hotel has five guest rooms: the Angler, the Hunter, the Dancer, the Prospector and the Barmaid. Guests can use the kitchenette and three shared washrooms for guest use.
Services
The '98 Hotel is an historic hotel in the heart of beautiful downtown Whitehorse, Yukon. We have the second oldest saloon license west of Winnipeg! The name refers to the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898, which is the largest gold rush in the history of the world. The '98 Hotel has five guest rooms: the Angler, the Hunter, the Dancer, the Prospector and the Barmaid.
The hotel rooms at The '98 Hotel were fully refurbished in 2019 to include new: floors, paint, trim, window treatments, heaters and furniture. The three washrooms, the kitchenette and the hallway were also refurbished. Our rooms are pet friendly and accessible. The access is ground floor, with no stairs in the lobby, guest hallway, guest rooms or guest washrooms.
This is a bold, sassy room, painted in sumptuous red and cream, with white accents. A miniature chandelier hangs over a red, antique blanket box (perfect for storing your belongings), the bureau, and a brass lamp/clock combination adorns the vanity. The artwork features dancers, and includes a large picture of well-known local dancer and choreographer, R. Reynolds.
The '98 Hotel is situated in the heart of downtown Whitehorse, which is the capital city of the Yukon, and the largest settlement in the three northern Canadian territories. Coincidentally, the Yukon split from the Northwest Territories in 1898. Whitehorse is known as the Wilderness City. It offers cultural and historic attractions that are showcased by the stunning natural beauty of the Yukon.
Do not allow your pet on the furniture unless you bring your own blanket for this purpose. Whitehorse is a wilderness city. You'll be happy to know there is a place to walk your dog along the Yukon River, which is half a block from the Hotel. It's called The Millennium Trail. The City of Whitehorse has an on-leash policy in most parts of the City.

Crystal the bartender was terrific.
She ensured all customers followed Covid-19 protocols with a smile and warm language.
She assisted customers above and beyond the call of duty.
Music on Thursday night was a bonus!
This historic bar is a must for travelers and locals!

Best bar in Whitehorse! Authentic, charming and rustic with cheapest beer in town.
Doesn't have the best selection of beer but it does have the best selection of folks you'll find north of 60!
Stop in for a beer, game of crib and you're sure to make a new friend.

From Australia. Had the best afternoon and night . Danced with the locals and to the worlds best fiddle player. If you are keen to get to know the locals get on over there . Loved the staff and the decor. especially loved the lady who they kept calling a cab for and escorted her out side to the cab . she kept reappearing through the back door . Aussies get there and have a good time

2nd oldest liquor licence west of Winnipeg. Meeting place for yukoners from out of town. Great "local"! Known as "the office" or "the breakfast club". The barley sandwich is breakfast.

Cheapest pint of Yukon Gold in Whse. Live music on Thursdays, friendly and sometimes awkward customers. Don't let the outside fool you, get in! A classic northern bar.
