Randy and Sherry Vinson started Advance Building Supply, Inc in 1988, running it out of their home and a small garage while Randy was still doing new construction home building and remodeling. They began by getting a few accessories here and there for other contractors in Sedalia. In 1994 they made the move to their old location on Anderson School Road.

I am an out-of-town contractor who needed emergency gutter material. I called and asked for the price per pound on the gutter stock and was quoted $2.65 per pound. This is a fair and reasonable price in my mind and I drove 41 miles to the store to pick up the material I was halfway between Sadelia and Columbia on I 70. When I arrived, I learned that there was an additional $20 charge for “a cutting fee“ that was added to all gutter sales. I asked why this was not explained to me on the phone and was referred to a very rude woman, who refused to give me her name, but claimed to be the owners
