Collaborative Practice is a voluntary process in which separating spouses (both married and common law) settle the issues arising from their relationship or marriage, without resorting to Family Court. One of the hallmarks of Collaborative Practice is the ability to negotiate a final agreement without the need for judicial intervention and in a manner that is respectful, honest and customized to the needs of your particular family.
A separation agreement is a written contract between you and your ex which stipulates your agreement regarding all of the legal issues. Done properly, a separation agreement is legally binding and enforceable. It may deal with parenting schedules, decision-making for the children, child support, spousal support and division of property.
Spousal support is the money one marriage partner pays to another after the marriage or relationship ends. It was put into place to lessen financial hardship on a spouse or common law partner who was financially dependent on the other during the marriage or relationship. Neglectful. Extremely Overpriced. My ex is using this 'service'.
They initially requested us to move in a "timely manner" when they themselves have no understanding of the phrase.
It's been seven months, over ten thousand dollars later my ex has paid, to which they have produced nothing to my lawyer.
They drafted a separation agreement before a financial disclosure (which is backwards) and the drafted agreement was unrecognizable to the outline she wanted, seems they draft their own agreement under their own guidelines.

I couldn't have lucked out any better than finding Rod Grierson and Tiffany bowman from Gailbraith Family Law. I wanted my separation to be as simple as possible and they did just that. By listening to how I felt and suggesting best course of action for me, it was better than I expected, not the separation, but the legal experience. My separation wasn't what I expecting, but my experience with the Gailbraith team was better that expected. Had a consultation with James Studer and even though we were time limited we discussed several topics... Since I am already the court process its advisable to speak with several law firms about mediation or collaboration before going to court. Unfortunately the court system has biases and you really don't want a judge making decisions about your children... He definitely was a professional and even discussed some options in my short time with him which was greatly appreciated...
Since this is an emotional time you need to find a lawyer your comfortable with... James seemed to be that type to me

I had Shannon on retainer for a month and it cost over 2400$. What did I get for that? Two useless letters that weren't worth the paper they were printed on, and 3 "meetings" where she looked more confused than anything.
Stay away from this "lawfirm" as they basically use your retainer as a personal bank account. They will charge you 34$ if you… sneeze in their direction. They charged me 275$ for sitting in their waiting room. They are all about the money not about actually helping you as they claim.
Do yourself a favour, do the research and find a decent lawyer that will put in the time

If you want professionalism and integrity, you have found it here. In particular Shannon More whom knows her stuff, her advice is sound and well researched. She is classy, tactful, and compassionate. Things are filed on time and well organized, this office operates like a well oiled machine. The staff are competent and polite. It is amusing to see a lawyer from here school an opposing lawyer in basic family law. They even provided my young son with a book for children about divorce and separation for him to read and keep, which seemed to help alleviate some of his fears and concerns. You will not
