I walked by Baked Expectations about 2 weeks ago and noticed that it was open late and people were dining in, looked like a nice atmosphere. So tonight I took my boyfriend there at 9pm (closes at 10pm) and was barked at the second we walked in about the only dessert options left. There was a couple of seats available so asked if we could sit in and have a coffee. The lady at the front (assumed to be manager) said that they are closed for dining in because “there is a pandemic”. We all know there is a pandemic, no need to be snarky, I was just asking as I had seen people dining in recently and

I like the way they make tortes. Cream are not too sweet, and I like the caramel torte, eat with Americano, definitely worth to try.
Last time we order one whole Crazy Chocolate cake for my daughter’s birthday, she also likes it. If you are a chocolate fan, recommend.
It’s good they provide dine in. So you can order one piece of cake and some drinks, sharing afternoon tea time with family and friends.

This is my favorite go-to place for dessert, always been impressed with the cakes and cheesecake. My personal favorite is Pumpkin spice cake (seasonal). I wish they have it all around the year. They make fresh stuff every day, and their display fridge is almost empty if you go after 7:30 pm. Their service is not the best; there have been a few times when I was disappointed with their customer service, but their cakes overpower that part. FYI- they don’t take credit cards- only debit n cash.

This place has the most racist general manager I have ever seen. She treats white customers Vs. customers of colour so very differently. Her attitude is absolutely unacceptable! If a customer is white she would be SUPER friendly and smiley but if a customer of colour asks something, she would just give an attitudee and look at customers as if they are suspicious. This is our third time experiencing the same. Racism DOES NOT belong to this century! Absolutely never again!

I don't like to review if just for food, as I consider it unfair to publicize negative experience. Better to just speak with servers or managers in person. Attitude is a different matter.
I usually visit BE whenever I'm in Winnipeg. Some cakes remind me of being in Europe. Was at the cafe a few days ago. My usual hazelnut torte was off somehow. The sever asked me if all was good. In honesty, I told her I thought the nuts were stale, or there was something that wasn't working. In addition, the meringue was so tough, I could only cut it with a knife. The server graciously offered

Ordered Baked Expectations through a delivery service in the city. We received a 50% off promo code so we figured we would get something that we normally would not get... Cheesecake!
We ordered two pieces of cheesecake, One being a German chocolate cheesecake and the other one a peanut butter chocolate chip cheesecake. Absolutely fantastic! They both were just over $8 a piece, a little high in my opinion but with the 50% off promo code I felt it was definitely worth it.
I was so very impressed I definitely will be going back! The pieces were a decent size, and filled me up way too much!

I feel like the place lost its mojo a long time ago...
I like how it has the 80's atmosphere which I hope they never take away because I feel the 80's look and the location on Osbourne make Baked Expectations what it is and helps give you that trip down memory lane -- also shows today's generation how the 80s felt. I personally feel like it's a landmark.
But I found the food portions to be smaller and not as high quality as it used to be -- that or I miss how it used to be. But I find that cakes are what they're better known for as they do make good quality cakes and

Very very nice place, great design and it has a variable cake choices. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The place is full and people are waiting in a long line to get it. Cakes are delicious- food is prepared in front of you. (Food isn’t good as the cakes) . Parking is an issue in Osborne. But definitely a place to have a good cake and coffee.

This is a Winnipeg food scene icon that has been around on Osborne for decades. It is a fair size restuarant and since being on Osborne poor parking.
It is a place people often go on dates to share desserts or pick up cake for an event.
I have been several years ago and found the cheesecake piece although a large serving to be medicore. There is no wow factor and its actually quite costly.
More recently I made a special trip to baked expectations to find something fitting for my friends birthday. She likes peanut butter or I was thinking maybe a big favorite of baked expectations as I havent

3.5/5, +.5 for service
Baked Expectations has become my hangout place for desserts and (sometimes) dinner in Osborne. Their cakes simply cannot be beat in terms of size, and their non-dessert food is actually quite decent too.
I've been here twice now, and both times I tried different items. The first time I had the German Chocolate Cheesecake, while the second time I had the linguine marinara and Oreo Cookie Cheesecake. I also had the Real Hot Chocolate both times.
For the cheesecakes, I enjoyed the Oreo cookie cheesecake a lot more. The German chocolate one didn't have a good presentation

This place was very highly recommended to us by some local friends. It was okay so we felt a tad disappointed as we had cultivated a lot of expectations from baked expectations.
We tried three of their cakes:
Old Fashioned Chocolate - It was okay. It was a little too dense and too sweet for my taste.
Cinnamon Torte - Or 1000 layer cake as we were calling it fondly. It was very nice, fluffy, tall with lots of easily distinguishable layers and balanced taste and sweetness. Very good.
Shmoo - This was the lightest and fluffiest of the lot. A lot of caramel sauce was poured over it, which made

One of the sweet things in life, Baked Expectations finds itself among my top 3 favourite restaurants in Winnipeg. I was barely out of high school when this establishment opened. Centrally located in the Osbourne Village, it was and is a place that any circle of friends could agree upon for great coffee, cake and conversation.
The coffee being a fantastic bowl of latte (yes, a bowl). The dessert being a huge selection of in-house made cakes and pies, made with real whip cream and butter of course. Conversations flow naturally in the stimulating environment, and because pretty much everyone I know

This was my dessert / coffee place to go to during my university years, so when Im visiting Winnipeg its a must stop for me. 10 years ago I might have given this place a 5 stars.
The desserts are great I love the cheesecakes, pavlova, and great sandwiches too. Cant go wrong most things are great and open late.
Some changes from my uni days, prices have gone up, and the price for a dessert was already pricey back then when I was a poor student, slices of cake have become smaller. I find service hit and miss depending on when you come. Place looks exactly the same, cool diner feel
