My interest in boats and boat building go back to the mid 1960's when my grandfather helped my scout troop build a fleet of Sabot sailing dinghies. I formalized my career in 1980, by enrolling in a Pre-apprenticeship Boatbuilding course at the the B.C. Institute of Technology in Burnaby B.C. After graduating, I began a boatbuilding apprenticeship in a small shop in Sidney B.C. where we built wooden lapstrake dinghies and rowing boats to 20'.
