The Janka hardness test is determined by a controlled test, performed to measure the force necessary to embed a.444 inch (11.28mm) steel ball to half its diameter in wood. The resulting data is expressed in pounds-force, or lbf. This industry standard assessment is designed to gauge the various wood species hardness, determine its suitability as flooring, and illustrate it's tolerance to normal wear, tear and dents.
There are many different hardwood species around the world. The most popular include Red Oak, Maple, White Oak, Yellow Birch, White Ash, Cherry, Jatoba, Hickory, and Walnut. Engineered wood is made of several layers of different woods or different grades of the same wood stacked and glued together under heat and pressure. It is less likely to be affected by changes in humidity and can be installed above, on, or below grade level. The top ply, or finish layer of an engineered wood floor can be a different wood species.
Laminate floors offer many benefits for homeowners. They are exceptionally durable, easy to clean, stain and fade resistant, and can be installed on all grade levels and over many different types of subfloors. As well, laminate floors have great impact and indentation esistance, exceptional realism at affordable costs, and are easy to replace later on, if desired.

We chose Aspen Wood Floors to install Craft wood flooring for main and upper floors and high end vinyl for our basement. David Mahabir was our sales consultant and he was the deciding factor when selecting a vendor as he was knowledgeable, communicated very well and really cared as much as we did that the finished product be perfect (multiple site visits and even moisture tests of the subfloor). He was the only vendor that rightly saw the need to level our main floor subfloor and even the freshly poured basement, as he wanted to ensure the look and longevity of the floor. Pricing was excellent

LOVE my new floors! Product is great quality and installation crew is efficient and professional. This is actually the 3rd home I have had Aspen supply and install my floors and I keep coming back. Now if only I'd stop moving... I have checked out other companies but the wide range of products and very knowledgable staff are why I continue to choose Aspen. Also, I believe they've been in business for about 25 years so I know I'm using a company that stands behind their services.

Purchased over 3000 sqft of engineered hardwood and had an exceptional experience throughout the process. Jim and team were very knowledgeable in terms of products offered and extremely helpful in working with me to get updates on inventory and delivery dates. Stock was delivered as expected and on schedule. Great customer service and reliable organization. I would definitely recommend (already have!) to others looking for a great experience.

We recently had new hardwood flooring installed throughout our bungalow.
Our whole experience from the beginning to the end was excellent. David, the Sales Representative, was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. The work started on time, exactly as promised. The crew who installed the flooring did a fantastic job. Ali and his partner Ahmed demonstrated an excellent teamwork, knowledge, and dedication to their work. On the first day, they removed old hardwood floor, baseboards, and carpets. It took them only two more days to install the entire new hardwood floor. They never complained

I highly recommend this company. We had a great experience from start to finish (including a problem that was resolved quickly). How often can one say that? We replaced the carpets and laminate flooring with hardwood throughout our 2 story home. Aspen has a wonderful selection of flooring to choose from in their showroom, and prices are comparable with other companies. Jim Pincoe, our Sales Representative at Aspen, was very knowledgeable and so helpful as we proceeded through the estimate, choosing the flooring, to installation and completion. In 2011 my wife and I decided to upgrade the floors in our condominium from the builder-basic laminate to engineered hardwood. After visiting a number of different vendors we decided to go with Aspen after visiting their show room and being awed by both the variety of material and the positive attitude of their associates.
The entire process, from having a representative visit for an estimate, to borrowing samples to check the look/feel through to installation was smooth and painless.
