These are some of the many attributes of our friendly talented faculty. We do our best to make sure that all students receive the best possible dance training. To do this, we have made it a priority to have a teaching faculty that is highly qualified in terms of teaching / dance experience and training.
It was in September of 1996 that Marquis Dance Academy first opened its doors in the Island Lakes area. Prior to that, Angele Lavergne, the school's director, had been teaching ballet & creative dance to Francophone students in the Saint-Boniface area in a studio located in St-Philip's church. This first school was called Ecole de Danse Classique, and had already been in existence since 1976.
This means that we do our best to make sure that all students receive the best possible dance training. To do this, we have made it a priority to have a teaching faculty that is highly qualified in terms of teaching experience and training. We also want to instil a love of dance in students. In addition to being a great exercise in physical activity, dance is also an art form.
Our Pre-School Programs is a four stage dance program for children ages 1 to 4. Each level is designed specially for each age group. All programs that we offer for our younger students are completely unique to our school. We look forward for you and your little one to be part of the magical world of mini-ballet!
Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Acro, Contemporary, Lyrical and Combo Classes for our younger students! There are so many benefits that come from taking dance classes, including: developing self-confidence, focus, improved motor-skills, team work, creative thinking, musicality, exercise, better poise and posture, setting and reaching specific goals and of course making new friends!

Beautiful studio, dedicated teachers and staff. As a health care professional I was very impressed with Marquis Dance Academy and their strict protocol to follow public health and safety guidelines while providing an environment for the dancers to pursue their love of dance and grow. Marquis Dance Academy has been my second home for as long as I can remember. Along with a beautiful facility, Madame Angèle and her staff provide excellent care for all their students. My daughter has danced at Marquis for several years. She absolutely loves all of her teachers and they've all done an exceptional job at helping her grow as a dancer but also a person. In this pandemic year, Marquis staff has gone the extra mile to ensure that this season has no less value than the others. They've shown both flexibility and creativity to keep up with changing restrictions, ensure dancer safety, and still give dancers opportunities to grow and showcase the work they're doing.

The Marquis studio and faculty provide a positive and professional environment for our daughter to do what she loves. Highly recommend Marquis! Our daughter has danced at Marquis for 16 years now, her earlier years in recreational classes and later years in the intensive/competitive program. I joined the Intensive Program at Marquis in 2015, after leaving another dance studio in the city. Madame and all the teachers always make sure that I am challenged and am given opportunities to grow as a dancer and performer. I feel like I’ve created so many close bonds with my all my teachers!! I always feel supported and I know that they want me to succeed. The instruction is always so professional and focuses on technique. Our studio is beautiful and a great environment for learning. I’ve been dancing at Marquis since I was two. The studio has always been like my second home for the last 16 years. I’ve danced in both the recreational and competitive program, and regardless of where you are, the teachers are all so encouraging and have created a fun and welcoming environment for all dancers.
