As a registered psychologist in Victoria, BC I use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a scientifically-based psychotherapy that is proven to help with depression, anxiety, emotional regulation and many other concerns. I am located in Athlone Court on Oak Bay Avenue, minutes from downtown. While there are many different types of therapy out there, I offer counselling methods based on the best scientific evidence available.

In particular, I specialize in a new type of mindfulness-based cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) that has been shown in empirical studies to be effective for a wide variety of psychological problems, including depression, anxiety, substance concerns and anger management. Paul provided some fantastic strategies and tools for periods of high stress and tension when supporting clients who were presenting with trauma.

Or maybe you've started to avoid or procrastinate on activities that are important to you. Maybe you have felt this way for a long time - maybe as long as you can remember or maybe you can pinpoint the beginning. Maybe you've tried various fixes, but on the whole they haven't worked in the long term.
Do you feel a sense of emptiness, of not being good enough, or of not being okay with who you are?. Maybe you've tried various fixes and distractions, but on the whole they haven't worked for you. It can be hard to go through the motions of life when you're not really feeling how you expect to feel.
Do you feel a sense of emptiness, of not being good enough, or of not being okay with who you are?. Maybe you've tried various fixes and distractions, but on the whole they haven't worked for you. Low self-esteem (or more accurately, excessively high self-judgment) is probably the most common psychological problem that I see.
Are you a gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender person trying to find someone who understands your unique struggles and needs? Have you struggled to communicate and develop the loving relationship you so strongly desire? Do loneliness, anger, and fear disrupt your closeness with others? I can help.

Paul and I have worked together as volunteer counsellors, where he practiced Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). From a work standpoint I saw that Paul was professional, dedicated, courteous, and caring towards volunteer staff and clients. Overall, Paul was a pleasure to collaborate with.

I have known Paul as a professional for two years and I highly recommend him as an intelligent and deep practitioner of the most effective methods my field has to offer. Paul has a great sense of humor as well as a wealth of life experience upon which to draw in his work as a therapist. He cares deeply about others and has humility and realism in his view of himself. Always the fit between therapist and client represents the best predictor of success in therapy; that said, I would refer people to Paul without hesitation and encourage anyone suitable for his practice to see if they might be a good

Working with Paul as his supervisor I found him to be a thoughtful therapist using the Action and Commitment model of therapy. He cares about the well being of his clients and helping them find their own answers with respectful guidance.
