Although they have a few locations around the city, this place is still unique, small and quaint. In a tiny footprint, they manage to pack a lot of homemade items as well as groceries in a well laid out store. The reality of the market in my opinion is this - it's an expensive grocery store for products you can find anywhere else, but their made-in-store items are where they shine. Their sweets are phenomenal and their meals range from good value to a once in awhile treat. I don't always love everything they make, but for the most part this place is pretty amazing. 4/5 stars with

I have bought produce and, it was great-A person commented on the price-You get quality service and a smile for a great selection of food. I think that the person that commented on their clientele needs to be mindful of that comment about "Rich people or one's that cannot cook." I would reserve that type of comment for another time-Not appropriate considering the reputation that Summerhill has in this area. JP

Just had a very poor experience at the new Annex location. I bought a packaged salad the day after it expired, and have tried to complain to the store on 3 separate occasions. My calls, and request for a refund, have not been returned. Why is food past its "best before date" still on the shelves?

They are very accommodating. I wanted a small arrangement made festive. Outstanding job when I saw the picture. Lovely and fresh.

I drive quite far to get to Summerhill and it is always worth it! It is such a pleasurable shopping experience with quality products and genuinely friendly & efficient staff. There is nothing like it anywhere… in the city! Most recently, I am so grateful and overwhelmed how Bob & Joe went out of their way to ensure I got my Christmas fruit tray. Best Butter tarts ever....And I make a good butter tart their's are outstanding.
A little expensive but it's good quality food.

The prepared food counter is my number one go-to per visit I pay to this store and every time I fly into town. I work across Canada and live nearby Summerhill, yet this place makes life easier to pick up quick home made-like tasty meals, some pastries and back to my fast paced life I go. But best of all Best Customer service: by far one the best place for customer service! Everyone that works here is always courteous and willing to help. They are consistent. Consistency is what is lacking nowadays but Summerhill employees are always consistently great. They greet you and actually get to know you. The BEST market I have ever shopped in. Blows Whole Foods out of the water and even bests Metro Market, Seattle and Down to Earth on Oahu. Sure but you can spend a LOT of money here but for the quality it is worth it.

Amazing place! Haven't had this much fun shopping in forever. The prepared food is spectacular, and the selection of other food is delicious. As well, I've had some incredibly long-lasting flowers from the florist. This place is very out of the way for me but well worth the trip to get some of the prepared food once and a while.

Only real flaws were the prices-- more high than I'd like to pay, but the product is much more premium than anywhere else I'd go.

Some prepared meals are excellent! the produce is always fresh and the store is very nice and clean. 5 Star rating for the store. 0 Star rating for the staff, in particular the middle-aged woman with light hair and glasses at the cash - I have NEVER in my life been treated so poorly at a store. I love this place so much! This place, along with Pusateri, are the best high-end grocery stores in Toronto. Compared to Pusateri, this place wins by a big margin. I find the service wonderful and the selection outstanding. It carry a lot of unique products that you can't find in most stores. Below are my favorites. Huge selection of very high quality prepared foods. My favorites are the seafood lasagna (HUGE chunks of lobster/shrimp with minimal pasta), lobster salad, shrimp salad, rice

The best market in Rosedale. This is my go to place to find supper fresh produce, well aged beef, all sorts of sprouts and anything else is looking for to create the perfect meal.

Summerhill Market, you have outdone yourselves. I am absolutely floored with the effort that Chef Jameson and the rest of your team put into the secret secret stash. It is so refreshing to have found a store that cares so much about their customers that they are willing to do something like this. Secret Stash is basically the coolest thing ever, and you guys should be commended for your efforts.

Super out of the way on residential street, but that prepared foods section was awesome!

I had gone on a Saturday afternoon so the shelves were a bit empty, but picked up a steak and mushroom pie anyway. It was a hefty pie and with a $20 price tag, I had high expectations. The pie did not disappoint! I could smell the butter wafting through the condo as it was getting reheated. The filling was basically saucy, big chunks of beef and mushrooms with no filler. Some of the beef was super tender, some not so much but it was fine as I like to have some texture in my beef.

The produce section was

Got a peach pie,very disappointed. The pie had that tin can and raw egg taste. For 12 dollars I expected the peach filling to be home made and not from a can. Also got a round bread bun with white frosting and cinnamon. This was also disappointing, it just tasted like bread sprinkled with sugar.

I'll stick with WholeFoods.

I'm usually a Pusateri's girl but this, the flagship location of Summerhill Market, is my favourite gourmet food market in the city.

Their prepared salads are fresh and varied. Their pre-cut-up fruits and veggies are always appetizing and super convenient. I personally recommend their homemade fruit cocktail...yum! Love the snack selection too (nuts, trail mixes, chocolates and what-nots). I find the fresh-squeezed OJ isn't as good as Pusateri's but the lemonade and other fresh juices are great.

Butcher is absolutely first-rate...don't miss their famous hamburgers. Cheese

Summerhill Market is really great!! Ok, so in order to appease all the complainers out there who say this place is too expensive (it is!), I have taken off one star. However, if you can afford to live in this area, you should be able to handle an eight dollar box of Frosted Flakes.

The market is a must for a few reasons....

1. During warm months (until October) what seems to be one of the nicest people in Toronto is outside grilling some of the best burgers and dogs anywhere. You can pay inside, then get your burger as you leave.

2. The market has a beautiful selection of plants right outside

Reviewing Summerhill Market harshly because it doesn't have the competitive prices of a mega-grocery is unfair. To use a grocery-friendly saying: it's apples to oranges, people.

I feel almost bi-polar about this place. I have gone back, tried it again, and am being won over a bit at a time.

Being someone who like very flavourful food, I am realizing why Summerhill Market's prepared food isn't overly flavourful....low fat, low sugar, etc. I will say the food is not greasy, and a couple of their items have won me over - their chocolate chip cookies and their meat pies.

This place is still not an "average Joe's" shop. I find the only times it is worthwhile for me to stop here is if I am on my way home from work and don't want to cook,
