Using electronic dental charting software instead of paper charts improves the accuracy and retrieval of patient data and allows for more comprehensive record keeping. This two-dimensional x-ray captures the entire mouth in a single flat x-ray image: upper and lower teeth and jaw, plus surrounding bone and tissue.
