Services
Pilates4Physio is a unique physiotherapy clinic where we guide patients through their rehabilitation using the classic Pilates equipment. We find patients do better with one-on-one supervised rehabilitation, until they are out of pain and can self manage with a home program. Sessions are either 45 or 60 minutes depending on pain levels and number of conditions or injuries.
The research for treating a lot of common injures is changing all the time. As Physiotherapists it is important to keep up to date on this so that our treatments are more effective. However the science has to be applied to each individual case and this is where experience and intuition come in. Not everyone responds the same way to a proven treatment.
Musculoskeletal pain is often incorrectly treated by primary health practitioners. There is a tendency for too much reliance on pain medication. The current opioid crisis is a direct result of this. Most of the these medications are not supported by the science and are extremely addictive. Part of the problem is a lack of knowledge about how musculoskeletal pain should be managed by both health care providers and patients.
He is the founder of Pilates4Physio in Downtown Toronto, combining the use of Pilates and manual therapy for rehabilitation. The history of the Pilates4Physio model goes back 7 years ago when he introduced the practice to a Pilates studio in Toronto. Very quickly clients could see the benefits of the combined approach and found they could address the underlying cause of their condition or injury.
After your initial assessment, your treatment sessions will comprise the combination of physiotherapy treatment and Pilates exercises. Sessions are either 45 or 60 minutes depending on pain and how much exercise your injury/condition can tolerate. Classes are based on the assessment findings and are part of your treatment plan.

I went to Pilates4Physio to solve a frozen shoulder problem. Damian really helped me through this process and happy to say that in less than a year I have my complete range of motion back. Damian was very informative in terms of his exercise recommendations as well as the hand work specifically on the shoulder was very effective. The combination of using a pilates aspects along with Physio with a little mix of yoga was the right combination and worked very well in my case.

Amazing experience, so far the best physio experience I ever had. I have gone to different clinics before, and the sessions were very general ,also didn't bring outstanding results. With Damian, I have noticed great results and I feel much stronger, not even mentioning improved body awareness. I would highly recommend his service!

Additional Feedback: I want to add that I've also had great success working with Damian via video with Skype. I've been so pleased to be able to continue benefiting from his expertise despite remote requirements. It works very well with just some basic supplies at home.
Original Post: I went through 3 physiotherapists before I found Damian. The combination of Pilates and physiotherapy, plus his experience as a massage therapist, is really effective. Anyone in Toronto, Damian is the best physiotherapist you can find. His approach is unlike any others -- and I can speak from experience! :)

Similar to some other reviews I have seen below, Damian is the third physiotherapist I have worked with in regards to a back injury I sustained last year that had me worried that I might have to give up dancing as it just wouldn't improve and continued to become worse.
The previous clinic I attended felt like I only received generalized or minimal exercise plans and a rotating door of different clinicians - but working consistently with Damian over the past few months I have seen significant progress and a correct diagnosis. Damian listens to concerns, he modifies and reviews the exercises on

I’ve only posted one review before (and tend not to do these things) but i thought it was important in this case
Prior to meeting Damian, I was post op surgery and hired a random physiotherapist who, I believe, caused re-injury to my operated area with an overly aggressive, and poorly thought through, protocol far too early in my recovery process. The basic mantra of strengthen, strengthen, strengthen! Without thought to anything else.
The re-injury ultimately required revision surgery.
The second time around I got it right by reading reviews and selecting Damian Wyard. Damian is professional

Damian is an amazing physiotherapist.
He's very friendly and knowledgeable. He helped me graduate from cane to no cane after I had my hip replacement. He listened to my concerns and would adjust the exercises accordingly. He made sure he helped me achieve all my goals. My goal was to ditch the cane and walk without a limp. He was very motivating and positive during the rehabilitation process. The exercises were simple but challenging enough to build strength in my glutes and thigh muscles. He also made sure I did my exercises correctly so that I could continue doing the exercises at home. I highly recommend Damian. His approach with Pilates physiotherapy is genius and exactly what I needed. After only one session I noticed a significant change and healing in a severe and complicated ankle sprain. I got more out of just one session with Damian then I did in 6months of standard Physio at another physio clinic. Hands on manipulation, stretching and strengthening Pilates exercises was able to target the precise problem areas that other physio was not able to target. Best of all I was not in any extreme pain after the session or within the following days. This was significant as I suffer

I was in Toronto visiting family and struggling with alot of pain which interfered with my vacation and daily living. I had recently become involved with Pilates and decided to search for a studio with the hopes it would improve my pain/mobility. After searching and reading of sites/reviews, I decided to try Damian as I was impressed with his (academic/work) background. I was extremely happy with both his clinical skills and results! Damian's assessment skills are exceptional and he was able to determine what the underlying issues were very quickly. His approach of combining both physio and pilates

I went to Damian for a serious ankle dislocation: getting physiotherapy with the Pilates approach allowed me to quickly be functional again, but also to get back to the activities I was doing before my accident. Especially, using the Pilates reformer for doing various exercises on that ankle without the full body weight was a key help in building back both the muscles and the range of motion, but also my confidence in my ankle.
Thank you Damian for helping me get back in my feet (literally!)

I met Damian Wyard, MSc PT, the registered physiotherapist and proprietor of Pilates 4 Physio in Oct 2016. i visited his workout space on the second floor of 134 Adelaide St. at Jarvis. He served up a small glass of distilled water the moment I entered the room. Its immediately apparent that Damian is very knowledgeable; he speaks with a British accent. A small radio played Classic Rock. The intake form was only two pages! followed by a short interview. After that Damian worked on me for an hour and charged me under a hundred bucks - i bought a package. Pilates 4 Physio is perfect for business

After an ACL reconstruction, I had been to 5 or 6 physiotherapists in the UK, Ireland and Canada. Two years later my leg still wasn't right, I had pain and weakness and my leg felt as though it was rotated inwards about 15 degrees from where it should be. I was very frustrated as I wasn't ready to get back to skiing or martial arts which I had expected to be 12 months earlier.
I found Damian, described my symptoms and he immediately diagnosed that I had done lots of work on strength (squats, lunges etc) but not enough on stabilization. Within a few sessions I had noticed a considerable difference

Because of a childhood neurological injury, I am partially paralyzed on one side of my body and this makes exercising properly and effectively a bit of a problem. I hurt my knee quite badly and with traditional therapy it had not improved much after 3 months. So I started treatment with Damian and his approach has solved the issue. The combination of physio and Pilates is perfect.
