Sulfur recovery refers to the conversion of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) to elemental sulfur. Hydrogen sulfide is a by-product of processing natural gas and refining high-sulfur crude oils. There are many sulfur recovery technologies available for different applications, however the most common conversion method used is the Claus process.
The Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) is an extremely important unit in the Refinery or Gas Plant. Without it, there would be harsh adverse environmental consequences including severe acid rain, as well as lethal ground level SO2 toxicity. The Claus plant is in place to convert H2S to valuable elemental sulfur and to minimize the amount of sulfur compounds released to the atmosphere.
The inlet gas separator, or the knockout drum, is the first unit in the Amine Sweetening process. It removes liquids and solids that have the potential to cause upsets downstream. Our team of experienced engineers would love to help you to choose the right one or troubleshoot an existing one! The absorber, or contactor, is where the sour gas first comes into contact with the chosen solvent.
Also available is a 'self-cleaning' model of the kit, which is ideal for keeping, for example, your Thermal Oxidizer / Incinerator excess oxygen analyzers online.
