Services
Improving the well-being of individuals and families and strengthening communities by delivering best practices in counselling, training, and research. At Calgary Counselling Centre, we help people learn to thrive. Since our inception in 1962, we've been driven by that purpose to provide the best counselling treatment possible.
Due to an increased demand for our services and a few staff on unexpected sick leave, it is taking longer than normal for new clients to be assigned to counsellors. We are doing everything we can to return to our normal process of no wait list. When you have been assigned to a counsellor, they will contact you to set up your first appointment.
Either through virtual or in-person counselling sessions, our clients receive the most effective counselling in the industry. One of the biggest reasons people don't seek counselling is because they don't think it can help them. If this is you, we highly encourage you to give counselling a try. Our clients are achieving their goals and so can you.

Worst service I have experienced. I had 3 counselling sessions with Wardah Elahi and each session I felt like she was judging everything I said. She was not helping me in anyway. On my last session I had to cancel that day because my child was sick and I had no one to watch her but she charged me a no show fee and sent it to collections. Me cancelling was not my intention so you would think she would be understanding and forgiving but she was not. As a client you would want to see a counsellor that is understand and non judgemental. She was the total opposite. It is clear this place is should not

Mentioned I have coverage but limited coverage .. that's ok, lets charge me the full rate until the coverage runs out and then we can negotiate a more affordable fee. Um WHAT! SO that means at the expensive rate with coverage I get THREE sessions. Which lets face it, does nothing for services. THEN my daughter, who is a student and thanks to covid has no job. SHE is getting the same expensive treatment until her limited coverage is done. HOW does someone with no income get charged the same amount as me, and even I can't afford that rate!

Critical: Communication, Professionalism
Did the online intake form and got an email saying they would contact me within 2 business days. It’s been 9 days and I have heard nothing from them. I also left a message on their answering machine and still nothing. After reading all these horrible reviews I’m starting to feel relieved that I wasn’t contacted. Very unprofessional.

After I took their little quiz about how at-risk I was (very), they put me alone in a (storage??) room with an intern who asked me repeatedly what exactly I was there for - when I ultimately started crying and, frustrated, told her I didn't know what kind of help I needed, she told me I was making her 'uncomfortable' and recommended we end the session. I then paid /money/ for this "service" and left in substantially worse shape than I entered.
I followed up and explained the situation in a detailed email, and they told me they would use this experience to help educate the person in question. I

Be very careful and prepare yourself before coming here.
My wife and I have been on a search for mental health therapy for a very long time for her. We were referred to the CCC directly as our local resources could not provide the care my wife needed. Unfortunately, through a series of miscommunications, inability to return phone calls and so… many other factors, my wife and I were ultimately dropped from care after two sessions of going over paper work and consent. The miscommunications caused the therapist to not attend the third session. We even had couples therapy booked but it never

There is a reason this place is reviewed so badly. Do NOT listen to the good reviews. Do NOT go here and waste your time. They are absolutely awful and I would never recommend them. It's not a good place as a client, and it's not a good place to apply if you're getting into the field either. These people have no idea what they're doing and don't deserve any of the funding they are receiving. ESPECIALLY AS A PERSON OF COLOUR/IMMIGRANT DO NOT GO HERE. 0 stars.
P.S. Dear Mr. Matthew (below), it is easy to assume that people that are leaving bad reviews are doing so because they don't want to make

I think that having CCC in Calgary is very important, however I was very unimpressed by the services provided. I have had contact with two different professionals there and felt like it was a waste of my time. I was at a difficult relationship and I did not feel supported at any time.
I don't believe that filling up their questionnaires every single session makes an accurate picture of a persons state of mind. Flexibility in time was non-existent. Just not good!

For a place that is supposed to "focus" on understanding and helping people I didn't feel like I was given either. Seeking help is a stressful and anxiety making endeavour that these professionals should actually understand. We showed up a few minutes late but trying not to panic about it we were met (not greeted) by someone behind the counter when we walked up to it and kind of stood around awkwardly. The woman gave us a bunch of papers to fill out directing us to a room and said she'd be back in 5 minutes to collect them.
When she returned we were barely finished the first

I was very unimpressed with this place. They caused me more stress than the problem I was trying to get help for. First of all, it was not easy to schedule appointments. You have to schedule them with by talking directly to your counsellor, not a receptionist, so you have to play an endless game of phone tag. The first price they quoted me was pretty outrageous, so they told me if I wanted a reduced rate I could see someone who was in training and not yet certified. I decided to take that route so as not to use up all my insurance coverage in 3 visits. So after yet another endless game of phone

Impossible to deal with. I tried to set something up with them for THREE WEEKS, and never got to talk with a real person. I'm currently working with another cousellor in town, who will cost a bit more; but if it's the choice between spending a few more bucks, and having to put my family through the grief involved, with the best solution I had come up with, then it's a choice I have to make.

I've given this establishment several chances during a few phases of my life, and it honestly did little to help. In fact, I felt worse walking out than I did walking in. I've been through 4 different counsellors during my times here...none were suited for me, sadly. One psychologist didn't even call me back after I had troubles trying to make appointments. Flexibility? Ha, maybe for those who work part time and live close by...
The cost is okay. They calculate it off of your income, or lack thereof. If you have cut hours or reduced pay rate, most of the time they will accommodate
