Immediately after obtaining his business degree from the University of Alberta, Trent began a career in the financial services industry that saw him working in a variety of positions, mainly specializing in audit and financial controls. After eleven years in banking, Trent became self-employed in the tourism industry, looking after his own books and taxes for ten years.
