Our registered massage therapists will work with you to find the root cause of your aches so that we can help relieve your pain and better educate you on how to maintain your body and lifestyle. It is our mission to honour both the art and science of massage therapy while we help you heal, prevent injury, and ease tension throughout your body.
Services
At Sore Spots, we believe that the moment you make contact with our studio is the moment you can expect us to start working towards your health and wellness goals. It is our mission to honour both the art and science of massage therapy while we help you heal, prevent injury, and ease tension throughout your body.
Our Dartmouth clinic is 5 minutes away from downtown Halifax & has several affordable parking options. Conveniently located right next door to the MacDonald Bridge is where you can find us at 99 Wyse Road (lobby level), adjacent to the DoubleTree Hotel and across from the Dartmouth Sportsplex. You may receive an access code to our clinic after securing an appointment.
Sore Spots is always looking to collaborate with Registered Massage Therapists and would encourage both part time and full time applicants to connect with our studio. We are interesting in meeting and working with therapists who share a common vision and philosophy of care. If you enjoy working solo as well as within the mentorship circle of a team environment than you're a potential fit for our team.
Deep tissue massage means that layers of tissue are mobilized, stretched, and compressed. This is our most commonly requested style of care, and for good reason: it feels good and it works! Our style of deep tissue strives to maintain a balance between effective depth and your "relaxation response".
Barefoot massage therapy has a different name depending on which lineage of training your therapist is trained in. So at Sore Spots, your therapist may be trained in Fijan barefoot, Ashiatsu (ashi-at-su), Sarga or Thai Massage. Most often we draw from the Ashiatsu lineage of barefoot massage. This is a broad yet specific form of gently compressive deep tissue therapy provided by the massage therapist's feet.

Very disappointing. My treatment was well under way by the time I realised that the therapist was totally unaware of why I had come in for therapy even though I had filled in all the required info prior to my visit. As my actual issue wasn't specifically addressed, I left feeling no better than when I first arrived. And just so you know, Sore Spots is also more expensive than other local therapy places.

I've had the Ashiatsu treatment with three different therapists and every massage has been outstanding. I never feel like I'm on the clock or being rushed. The clinic is an extremely welcoming environment with professional staff who provide incredible massages targeting my areas of need. 10/10

My massage therapist Sarah Verboom was thorough, professional, and effective. She was knowledgeable and able to pinpoint misalignments in my posture quickly. She was funny, honest, easy to talk to, and a great massage therapist! She ran through the different treatment modalities (hot rocks, barefoot massage, aromatherapy) with me, asked for my consent for all of the same, checked in with me throughout to make sure I was comfortable, and did a good assessment before beginning treatment.
I would recommend this clinic, and Sarah in particular, to anyone.

I was really happy with my first session with Jamie Lynn, I felt she took an appropriate amount of time to assess my needs and as the session proceeded she adapted to address other area that she thought needed more attention. I am looking forward tio future sessions with her. It was also a pleasure to meet Cashew!

I had a great first experience at Sore Spots Dartmouth, the communication on how to get into the building (on the weekend) for the appointment was very helpful and I felt very safe with Covid measures being followed. Nick was great, very professional and laid back which made me feel relaxed during treatment.

Nick did a great job of getting rid of my back pain in one session… He was able to work out a knot in my back without putting me in more pain. I have gone to other therapists for this very similar type of issue but I always endured a lot of pain working it out. Nick seemed to work the knot out in a much slower but heavier technique that was not as painful like the others I have had before.
I definitely would recommend him
Update:
I had an emergency session with Jora today and was extremely pleased with her service as well. I found that she and Nick have a lot of similar techniques which makes

I've been struggling with an impinged tendon in my shoulder for a couple of years. Physio, Osteo, and other massage therapists only ever gave me partial, temporary relief. Jamie was able to give me back mobility and relieve pain in one session. I already feel so much better. Highly recommend!

Had an awesome treatment today with Sarah V. She listened to my problem areas and incorporated a variety of therapeutic and relaxation techniques. She made sure I was comfortable and checked in a lot throughout the treatment. The clinic and reception staff were friendly and everything was very clean. Would definitely recommend sore spots, and Sarah for your next treatment. I left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and lighter overall.

On January 7 I had a 90 min massage with Karine, it was unbelievable, you walk away less stress If you enjoy deep pressure mixed with relaxation, balance and wellness
on February 10, I had 90 min but deep… tissue this time, with Jora, and once again, professionalism on the highest level, she is an expert in deep tissue, I got the Swedish massage, but can't wait to try her other techniques 😊🙏. The Thai stretch therapy and the ashiatsu (Barefoot).
I recommend sore spots as a person who took hundreds of messages and physical therapy in my life. It's the place to go 😊

I had the opportunity to receive a treatment from Julie Daye, just yesterday at the Halifax location. Julie’s warm and inviting energy was such a delight. The 90 minute treatment she provided was the catalyst my body needed to let go of some icky stuff and make way for fresh new Autumn 🍂 opportunities. I love to usher the seasons in and out with body and energy work...Julie’s skilled hands are precious implements of change. Thank you Julie and Jamie and the whole Sore Spots team...for keeping the magic alive. ✌🏼❤️🦋

I had my massage with Amy and she was amazing! She was quickly able to diagnose my issue, give a detailed explanation on what it was, and advise on how to better take care of it in the future. Sore spot was very accomadting in taking me last minute, which I was starting to think wouldn't happen. I would highly recommend going to Sore Spots.

Honestly one of the best massages I've had. I travel a lot and have tried a variety...but Steph's Ashiatsu massage was right up there. If you haven't tried Ashiatsu, you should... it was my first time and I was curious going in, but the deep and accurate pressure really delivered! Plus, her music playlist was right up my alley and way better than a stock "massage room" soundtrack. Thanks!

When I tell friends I'm going for 'massage therapy,' they don't seem to hear the second word. Massage therapy can be (and often is) uncomfortable. A lot of, "Oh, does that hurt? Let me just put my entire body weight on that point until you almost cry."

Or, at least, that had been my experience in the past. I've had a few appointments with Philippe now and have had a different experience. Are there painful moments? Yes. That's the therapy part. But he manages to cram more work into an hour-long appointment than any other RMT I've seen. In a good way
