Priya and Mike were both raised in Kelowna, and met while attending dental school at the University of British Columbia.

They have a three-year-old son, Jaxson, and have also recently welcomed their baby girl, Lexi, late last year. They are excited to bring into the office digital x-rays, including a state-of-the-art 3D imaging unit to help facilitate diagnosis and treatment for our patients.

At the end of 2019, Dr. Mike Stearns and Dr. Priya Stearns took over the practice as the new owners. As they are both from Kelowna, this is truly a homecoming for the two of them after practicing in areas such as northern Alberta, the Yukon, and the South Okanagan previously. Dr. Mike Stearns grew up a resident of the Rutland area, attending Rutland Elementary School, Rutland Middle School, and graduating from Rutland Senior Secondary.
Unless you have an immediate concern that needs to be addressed, your first visit with us will likely be for a comprehensive new patient exam. This appointment will typically be around 90 minutes, and you will meet one of our hygienists, at least one dental assistant, and the dentist. You can expect a cleaning, oral exam, x-rays, and a thorough discussion regarding all aspects of your oral health.
The Canadian Dental Association recommends the assessment of infants, by a dentist, within 6 months of the eruption of their first tooth or by one year of age. Sometimes this first visit is as simple as a ride in the chair for your little one to try to get them comfortable, and sometimes we are able to complete a full exam.
Rutland Dental Centre restores teeth using tooth-colored fillings that are made to match your natural tooth color very closely. These "composite" fillings are made of acrylic resin and very fine glass particles, and adhere to your natural tooth to produce both a strong and esthetic restoration. This same material can also be used in a procedure called "cosmetic bonding".
Clear aligner therapy, such as Invisalign, is a way to straighten your teeth, correct bite issues, and give you the smile that you deserve; all without the need for traditional brackets and wires. With additional advanced training in Invisalign, Dr. Mike Stearns, Dr. Priya Stearns, and the team at Rutland Dental Centre will be able to thoroughly review all your options and determine if you are a candidate for clear aligner therapy.
