New Horizons Counselling
I have two degrees from York University in Toronto and from Trinity Western University in Langley, B. C., including a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology. I am also a graduate of George Brown College with a major in addictions. My approach to therapy involves a personal authenticity, a special enthusiasm and love for my work and a wealth of personal and years of professional experience.

I undertake to respond appropriately and effectively to each client's individual disposition and experiences such that the "fit" between client and therapist is comfortable and the plan for treatment is collaboratively developed. I am an active, caring therapist who helps men and women from all walks of life to improve their relationships, resolve problems, and make important changes in their lives.

Failure to develop a satisfying intimate relationship has been reported to be the single most frequently presented problem in therapy. And that shouldn't be any big surprise. Intimate relationships with ourselves and our partners take time and effort to sustain. Once the initial romantic phase is over, difficulties can emerge, and before long, couples can experience a sense of disconnection from one another.
Family therapy is a type of psychological counselling (psychotherapy) done to help family members improve communication and resolve conflicts. Family therapy is often short term. It may include all family members or just those most able to participate. The treatment plan will depend on your family's situation.
The power of a healing therapeutic relationship can open up paths to self-discovery, insight, and change. People today choose to do individual counselling and therapy for a great variety of reasons, whether they are struggling with a mood disorder, experiencing a need related to a present day challenges, or wanting to confront fears and challenges they have long carried.
In order to assist the process of a healing dialogue, the therapeutic method will reflect each person's individual temperament and experiences and can vary depending on what an individual is struggling with and what he or she is comfortable with. Different instances call for listening to a person's story, or offering guidance, or providing insight.
These are books written within the field of Psychology that I have reviewed and used and highly recommend. Clients have found them very helpful. With the exception of Healing the Wounds In Couple Relationships, the books are all available through Indigo or Amazon.ca. The Grief Recovery Handbook by James and Friedman.
