Do you feel like you are drifting apart and that special feeling isn't there anymore? It may be that you and your partner just can't communicate and that your relationship feels like it is going nowhere. Do you sometimes wonder where has the love gone? Are you reeling from something your partner has done and you don't know if you can get past it?
You don't know if you should stay or go. Or perhaps relationship problems have left you feeling stuck and you really don't know how to move forward. Perhaps you are single and worried about making a good choice. Maybe old patterns and problems seem to keep a successful relationship just out of reach.

My decision to become a marriage and couples counsellor is based on an interest in people and how good relationships support and nurture them. As well, this interest has led me to studying ways to reduce the pain, confusion and negativity that causes people so much grief and unhappiness. When the relationships we have with those we love or care for go wrong we can easily become stressed, depressed, frustrated, angry and confused.
I have an open and intuitive style, and take a non judgmental supportive approach. At the same time, I am direct and honest with feedback and observations. My therapeutic methods are based on systems theory and I draw primarily from cognitive behavioural, solution focused and emotionally focused modalities.
You can also send me a brief e-mail at jansutherland@shaw.ca, or text me at the above number. My fee is $145.00 (includes tax) for a 60 minute appointment or $175.00 for an hour and 15 minutes. Where possible, I will help you obtain coverage if you have an insurance or extended benefits plan. My therapy office hours are typically Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with limited late afternoon and evening appointments.
