I normally never write reviews but decided that Essential Auto is worth recommending to anyone looking for reliable auto service. We have taken 2 of our vehicles there for repairs and service. One of them quite an extensive repair. What impressed me most of all was when I brought another car in just for a quick winter tires change, I was pleasantly surprised that Rich took the time to take the car out for a test drive to make sure everything is fine.

Late in the afternoon the alternator on my car died. I had driven in from Oakville. Called them and John was kind enough to take me in last minute because he realized that I had to drive back to Oakville. They quickly diagnosed the problem, got and installed a new alternator and sent me on my way in just about an hour, at the end of the day and last minute call. Rich drove the car just to make sure that car was okay. Thank you John and Rich. Strongly recommend them for any auto repairs.

After a couple of bad mechanics, we discovered Essential Auto and have been regular customers for many happy years! They do a great job of regular jobs like oil changes as well as looking into any actual or potential problems, then explaining what fixes are essential and what can wait. Great communication and full reports via text, with photos and explanations of what needs attention. We're so glad to be customers and recommend Essential Auto to everyone we know.

Essential Auto has done extensive cylinder head and suspension work on my aging but well-maintained Saab 9-3. The work they have done, while not cheap, has been done professionally, on time and as promised. I believe this is a rare five-star shop, and I have come a long way to use their services. The staff are professional, polite and straightforward - and will answer as many questions as you have. No hesitation at all recommending this shop and these people. .

Was feeling like my car needed an alignment. Went to Essential Auto and had some other concerns. They gave a detailed report of the alignment results and the inspection. Answered all the concerns I had. They offer pickup/dropoff too. Work didn’t seem rushed and the car drives better than before. Will definitely come back for repairs & maintenance in the future.

Save your money, go somewhere else! I was referred to this garage by a friend and regret taking my car here. I came for a small ac part replacement ($100) and instead they also broke the motor fan housing when servicing my car and forcing me to replace the entire motor (+ $400) that did not need to be replaced when I walked in. I asked that the parts they replaced come home with me, where I tested them confirming they scammed me and caused a dramatic hike in price. I confronted the owner who was polite towards my accusation but did not fulfill his commitment to refund the service and was not even

This is the first bad review I write. I was recommended by a friend to this store. When I walk into the store, the staff at the front desk told me to hand the keys to him, and someone drove my car to the back garage. When they have done 'inspection', they said to me that I have to change the brake pads and rotors for all wheels of my 2018 BMW, I was asking whether I can only change my pads because that is what the system in my car asked me to do so, but they refused to change the pads only so I asked them to give the keys back to me and I will find somewhere that can do it. Solid place with trustworthy advice from reputable mechanics that suggest to you only what you need and nothing you don't. The google reviews speak for themselves (4.9 out of 5 stars). I had to drop by for an emergency and Rich handled my problems quickly and efficiently. Small shop amidst a large parking lot full of cars, but definitely my go-to place for repair work in Waterloo from now on.
