Vina Vietnamese Restaurant, a diverse native Vietnamese cookery with characteristic French savoir-faire - a fusing of woks and flames, Vina (meaning Vietnam) has been serving superb fine dining experiences for Vancouverites for more than two decades. The first North Shore outlet at 2508 Marine Drive, West Vancouver, British Columbia was established in the winter of 1980.
Vina has since been adopted wholeheartedly by area residents and has expanded to four lower mainland Vina locations, which have been successful due to the quality and reasonable prices of the authentic food.

This spot is on the nicer side of basic, serving all the usual Vietnamese dishes that I've come to expect in Vancouver. Slightly uninspired but good value. The patio is too noisy with traffic to be enjoyable.
I'd go here again for an easy, tasty, and filling meal. I'd also for sure get take-out from here after a day of skiing!

What a disappointment!! Just finished eating someone else's take out!! And it was horrible! Some mystery meat.. I Hope the person that got mine does not have a seafood allergy!! I called and was told the other customer must have mixed the orders up!!! I said you mean YOU mixed it up!!! What a bunch of crap!! I have not been to the Vina for 5 years as it was getting rundown and now I won't be getting take out again because they can't keep two orders apart!!! Good Bye Vina

Really bad service while ordering. Had their lemongrass chicken pho and found a strand of hair in it (approximately 1.5cm and it’s quite thick - with visible brown root) , the woman said it’s eyelash and threw the strand of hair away. Also yelled at us and said it’s unpossible for me to get a return. Never going back again.

Edit: to clarify (now i've read more of their page). This was the Park Royal food court location. It seems the other one is better. i'll have to try it.
I've been spoilt with food court Vietnamese food. Vina Vietnamese reminded me why I shouldn't bother.
The price was OK, CAD 9.95 for a plate of lemongrass chicken with salad and an egg roll. But the chicken was cold, the noodles cut too short for chopsticks, salad wilted and they need to change the oil the egg roll was cooked in.
It's a barely edible adventure and makes me appreciate other Vietnamese food outlets

So I'm looking over the massive number of reviews for this place so far (12) and there are some strange ones.
Full disclosure: I've been eating at Vina since the '80s. Yep. Well less often from '90 on, but I have been recently, and occasionally through the years.
The food here is tasty. I've always liked it. I eat a lot of Vietnamese food and they do it well here.
Key dish is the hot pot--it is excellent. The spices and herbs they put in are memorable. This is one I always order when I come here.
For people who say that the decor and the piano isn't what they

When you first walk in a semi-formal host greets you. He's very pleasant, his name is Alex. The decor is very interesting. It's starts out with an Asian theme, then lapses into something I'm not sure, then supper club. They have cloth napkins which is nice.
They have a pianist which first started out playing and then broke out into song. Desperado, yes desperado. (Reminds me of the episode Seinfeld).
The pianist is actually very good just not what I expected to see in a "Vietnamese" restaurant.
I'm struggling with this review. My boyfriend loves this place. Don

Fried calamari was tender and good with the nuoc cham. The small wonton soup was the perfect size, but was literally just wontons and broth with a sprinkling of green onion. No other veggies or anything. Good thing my sister got the pho and I scraped the rest of her beansrpouts. Her pho looked good, but I didn't try it. Mr. A got the papaya salad with lemon grass chicken and it was ok from what he said.. Nothing here was SPECTACULAR, but it was the fact we sat outside on a beautiful summer day with no one around munching good food and throwing back drinks. *(Drinks btw weren't great

If you're eating at Vina, go for the gourmet Vietnamese cuisine instead of the regular pho dishes (around $9). The dishes are scrumptuous and cost approx $17-$20. We tried a garlic prawn dish and a stuffed chicken dish and both were excellent. For a somewhat upscale atmosphere and great food, this is excellent value. You can eat the same old crap at Earl's or the Keg for approx the same or more OR tantalize your taste buds at Vina. Service was also excellent.
