Assault has a very broad definition according to the Criminal Code of Canada. Assault is basically when a person applies intentional force to another person without consent. It also includes threatening or even just attempting, through actions or gestures, to apply force. The accused must have or must seem to have the present ability to affect the purpose of assaulting.
Domestic Assault is a specific charge of assault pertaining to the action of harming or intent to harm a family or household member or partner. Usually the effects and consequences are drastic and immediate. The accused can no longer go home or perhaps even contact their partner. If you are faced with a charge of domestic assault, don't limit your options.
Drugs and controlled substances are illegal in Canada and therefore if you are apprehended for the production, possession or trafficking of drugs you will likely receive criminal charges in accordance with the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Drugs tend to be classified as "hard drugs" or "soft drugs".
Fraud is somewhat related to theft. Fraud is to take advantage of another person or persons by defrauding them of money or valuable security, property or service, by means of intentional deception for one's personal gain. While fraud charges are usually laid out along with charges of theft, it is usually difficult for the Crown Attorney to prove fraud.
Impaired driving is a very tricky and complicated criminal offense because it includes a wide range of different criminal offences. Suspected drunk drivers are asked to take a roadside breath test so their blood alcohol concentrations can be checked. If the concentration is less than 50 milligrams in 100 milliliters of blood, then the result is a pass.
