The Canadian court system does not use the term "Common law". The system uses the phrases Adult Interdependent Parties and recognizes property rights for cohabitating couples. I just have to say, what a great experience I’ve had a Kahane. I used the services of Kahane Law Office for purposes of applying for Canadian Permanent Residency and ultimately Citizenship. I originally chose Kahane due to their superior pricing and perceived value. As time went on, I realized how extremely simple and painless they made an otherwise complicated and time-consuming process. I used Khane Law on two occasions. Once for a letter in response to being sued. With the information, the letter was made quick, succinct and professionally. The second time was for legal representation for a civil case and Mr. Harding was very knowledgeable, encouraging and always available within the hour of any questions I had. Their fees were very competitive but the representation and efficient knowledge was unsurpassed. I highly recommend them to any house selling issues or litigation.

Mr. Kahane took the time to respond to my review. It is not as he said. I signed a contract based on a defective corporate search by the firm leading to the conclusion that Alberta was the appropriate jurisdiction for my matter. Later, the firm did state that they weren't sure of jurisdiction based on the issues. I, on my own, found the corporate information detailing that Ontario was the appropriate jurisdiction.
Having said that, I ask you to look at the email in my previous post. Do you think that that email thread took 18 minutes to carry out on the part of the attorney? I would be happy

For $1200 CAD, my attorney at Kahane and I concluded that Alberta was the wrong jurisdiction for my matter. The monies were taken out of the retainer that I had paid. It was not my decision. My Ontario attorney, for $1350 CAD, wrote and submitted a full complaint.

I don't recomemd Kahan Law they say they do out of province real estate. Oh my goodness it is the worst service i ever seen. We signed papers On May 11,2020 and we are May 21,2020 and still waiting for my money. The lawyer in out of province sent them money and they did not want to make me a check and they told me they sent the mnoney back in the… laywer out of province on May 19,2020 and guess what no money and i get an email today that they are sending the a check back to the out of province lawyer instead of giving me the check.. Seriously...And i paid more moeny to get my money and still

I wasn't at all impressed with my real estate purchase service. I waited longer than I felt was appropriate due to a boardroom overbooking. There were inconsistencies in the mortgage documents which were the fault of the mortgage company but which the paralegal on file should have noticed and addressed. Most importantly, the cheque wasn't sent to the sellers' lawyer in a timely fashion, thus delaying the closing. No one followed up to make sure the problem was corrected and I am still awaiting hearing back on some other loose ends around fence lines.

I was under the impression that they had to send our title to our HOA but after speaking with Jeff he clarified that land titles is not only running behind, but that they typically don't send that off to anyone but the home owner. He pulled our title and emailed me a copy right away.
There was also some miscommunication between the sellers of the house and their lawyers regarding city tax payment, resulting in us being charged a penalty for late

This firm is sooo unprofessional and incompetent save yourself stress and time find somebody else. Anybody I'm sure would do a better job. Unreturned phone calls, paperwork not completed on time causing delay of possession for new condo. No keys were given on possession date. No apologies given...horrible place to do business!

I received an offer on the sale of my condo, that had a weeks' turnaround time to the close. I was a little concerned about finding the services I needed to help make this deal go through on such a tight timeline.
Kahane Law Office stepped up and make it happen.
They came highly recommended to me, and they did not disappoint.
I spoke to the office at 3:30 on a Wednesday, and I had an appointment to sign the paperwork at 11 a.m. the next day.
The deal went through without a hitch.
