Services
Bijan Optical was established in 2002 on the University of Alberta Campus at HUB Mall. Bijan optical is named after Bijan is an Optician who set up his Business for almost 20 years on University of Alberta Campus. Thao Doan has been part of the Bijan Optical team since 2014. We have been providing students, staff, and the community with quality eye care services since 2002.
Increased screen-on time is now a normal feature of our lives and you can't escape it. Most of the things we do and communication involves a screen from mobile phones to computer screens. Whether gaming, on meetings, writing or coding, our on-screen times are at an all-time high. The result of this is exposure to several eye diseases and complications arising from indiscriminate exposure to blue light.
All our lenses are installed and checked by qualified and experienced optical dispensers here in Edmonton. There are some variations as to eligibility and claim amount depending on your policy, though that is simply a matter of which policy you have. We cut our prescription lenses locally to ensure extra precision and a speedy turn around for our customers in each region.

I usually don’t write reviews and express my feedback only by likes and stars, but my recent experience at Bijan opticals at UofA deserves way more. My eyes have been having various issues for years, and I need to check them regularly. This time was my first experience at Bijan. I have to say the eye exam there was the most successful exam I have had in years. Although the doctor was friendly and knew what she was doing, this was not comparable to my wonderful experience with my new eyeglasses there. The staff was not only super nice and helpful but also very professional. Typically, when someone

I tried to explain that it was glasses for reading and using the computer that I wanted to review. My original glasses were not measured at the outset and when I asked for this after the exam I felt that the prescription issued was not appropriate. I wore my driving glasses for part of the eye test, which are a different prescription to my computer/reading glasses. The whole process was rushed and I didn't feel that I was being heard or understood.

Avoid their no-name glasses at all costs.
I purchased one of their no-name glasses (~$300) and had it fall apart three times. The first time (see image 1), the plastic end-piece/hinge broke, and had to replace the entire frame for $70.
After the frame replacement, the screw holding the frame wiggled out on two separate occasions (see image 2).
I have been wearing glasses all my life, from brands such as Lacoste, Luxotica, Seraphin and never have I experienced even a slight malfunction with these brands.
I am convinced that Bijan Optical's no-name glasses (I believe they are supplied by Jenny

AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!
All these reviews are fake, from friends. This is an extremely unprofessional place.
Opticians are NOT qualified to write prescriptions and perform full exams.
They do all kinds of shady stuff. They use cheap lenses and trying to charge you for high end lenses.
My eye exams were done by the owner twice, and still I felt dizzy as long as I wear the glasses(when it’s complete, and after readjust). I doubt they did any adjustments. But they promised me should be fine. And I went to another doctor who told my glasses was rated way over my prescription. I went back, the owner

Terrible Experience. Do not recommend. I went to the one in SUB mall after the guy in HUB mall (same phone number for both) told me he booked me an appointment. Well he didn't. Sounded like that happens quite a bit. Lucky me I get to wait around until the person who ACTUALLY had my appointment gets all their stuff done. Okay, I'll be pleasant and pretend I didn't have better things to do. Optometrist was good when I finally got to see her (why this is 2 stars and not 1). Then they have a "special discount" for University students ($99 regular eye exam which is outrageous

Went in with my boyfriend, who is a long time customer. They remembered him and were very friendly. We picked out four or five frames, and I narrowed it down to three. Then the owner offered me an amazing deal - 2 pair of glasses with lenses for pretty well the price of one. Amazing! Selected my frames of choice and love them! I highly recommend them.
