According to section 130 of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, careless driving is defined as driving a motor vehicle or street car on a highway without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway.

Careless driving charges are usually issued to drivers as a result of an accident where police officer was not present and was not able to see what specific driver's actions led to a motor vehicle accident.Furthermore, the abovementioned careless driving penalties could be much higher and consequences may be much serious.
Every driver in Ontario is expected to obey a traffic sign to allow other motorists to proceed with caution at intersections to avoid accidents. Once driver disobeys stop sign he'd be committed an offence under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, section 136(1). Here full stop means to stop your vehicle's wheels moving (please note, that a "rolling stop" is also a reason to issue a ticket).
We're sure each of you has ever been texting SMS or changing your route on GPS while driving. But did you know that 26% of all car accidents involve the usage of the cell phone? Being distracted while driving means that you are up to 4 times as likely to be involved in a collision. Did you know that when using a cell phone while driving your motor vehicle you're losing almost 50% of the information in your driving environment?
Every province, as well as Ontario, is striving to provide safety on its roads. Hence, those drivers who have been convicted of driving offences can have their driving licence suspended or even revoked. If you decide to drive while prohibited you may receive a summons to court for driving under suspension in Ontario according to section 53 of the Highway Traffic Act.
The vast territory of the country and the developed road network in Canada implies the presence of a driver's license for every adult resident of the country. According to the Criminal Code of Canada and the laws of Ontario province driving without license is illegal and may result in severe punishments.
