Automotive Edge opened in 2004, giving Kitchener-Waterloo drivers a local auto repair shop they can count on for honest advice and service. Our owner, Matt Ellacott, has more than 25 years of auto repair experience and is genuinely committed to helping customers get the most from their vehicles. We emphasize auto repair, instead of replacing parts, as well as customer convenience and comfort during the auto repair process.
At Automotive Edge, we offer a full range of auto repair and maintenance services for Kitchener-Waterloo drivers. Our customers trust us to work on all types of vehicles, and we offer a 40-point inspection with every repair or service. If we can fix a problem instead of replacing a part, we will-and it'll save you money.
Unless your vehicle requires premium gasoline, filling up your vehicle with high-octane gas is a waste of money. The premium gas doesn't boost your gas mileage or performance. If you're not sure what grade works best for your vehicle, your owner's manual will tell you. You can also ask your mechanic what grade to use.

I have taken a few vehicles here in the past. The staff was always friendly and professional. However, watch for the upcharges. I have never paid what was quoted upfront. They always seem to find a way to inflate their bills.

Matt and his team at Automotive Edge are very knowledgeable and experienced mechanics. When they have done any work on my car, Matt has been upfront and honest with me about what needs to be serviced.
In early April, I took my car in to get my tires and oil changed. It was discovered that it was time to replace both my Brake Rotors and Pads.
We checked to find out the last time they were replaced. Amazingly, the type of brake pads I had purchased before lasted quite a longtime (good value).

My friend recommended this shop a few years ago, and I’ve been going ever since. They are extremely honest and are happy to answer all my questions. I really love the service report they text me every time I bring my car in. It’s full of pictures so I know what they are seeing (and the extra information on why something is important to fix/maintain is very helpful since I don’t know much about cars). They let me know if something urgently needs to be fixed because of safety, or if I can wait a while. Overall, I’d highly recommend this place. I’m much happier now that I switched over to

I am so happy I was referred to Automotive Edge over a year ago, the service is incredible, reliable, and trustworthy. Taylor is so cheerful and great to talk to when calling in for appointments or questions. Matt explains everything so well and doesn’t rush you or push you. They have gone above and beyond with getting my Pathfinder as good as new over the last year! But the BEST thing happened today, Matt found a way to fix my lift gate which was broken for almost two years, and nobody said they could help unless I wanted to replace it for 5k. They always said they would find a way to get that

I had to bring in my 2007 Santa Fe for some much needed brake work and for an unknown check engine light. Not only did they manage to squeeze me in faster than I had expected, but they also were able to diagnose my vehicle's issues, and sent a text (with link) that outlined exactly what was wrong with it. They answered all my questions, kept me updated with progress of the repairs and were friendly and professional through the whole process. I've been going to Automotive Edge (AE) for my car maintenance and repair for about a year now. During that time I have found that Matt and his team offer great service for a fair price. AE attempts to find the root cause of a problem and does not just swap parts. They give you various options for repairs and pragmatic advice. Matt is very personable and explains things in terms I can easily understand. They often get my car in the same day and also offer a loaner vehicle. Can't beat that!

Brought my car in today to have my brakes looked at. Having never done this before was not sure whatcto expect. Matt and Calvin were really friendly and worked with me to find parts that fit with what I was… able to spend. Matt was kind enough to drive me to work when a car was not available for me to use and covered the cost of a cab for me to come back and get my car when I was done work.
