Tim's Automotive Repair & Mobile Service has operated and serviced the Nanaimo area for 35 years; originally established as a sole proprietorship mobile repair business in 1980. Tim Gagnon started with a 1978 Bronco and served the community at large until 2003 when his sister Judy and her husband Al Schickerowsky bought it from him and continued the business as a mobile service for another 7 months.
We are a full-service auto repair and designated inspection facility, as well as a licensed dealership providing quality used car sales. We employ fully licensed technicians to provide the very best service to our customers. Our shop is centrally and conveniently located @ 1481 Bowen Rd. (next to the Quarterway Pub) in Nanaimo, BC.
It is recommended that you get your vehicles brakes checked at least twice a year. Here at Tim's Automotive, we inspect the brake fluid and check the moisture content; this fluid attracts moisture and will contaminate the brakes hydraulic system which can lead to costly repairs, flushing the brake system saves you money.
Here at Tim's Automotive Repair, we use the Moto Vac machine to perform this service. We disconnect the fuel lines and hook our machine directly to your vehicle. The machine runs your vehicle for approximately 45 minutes with a concentrated cleaner.
This cleaner breaks down all the varnishes and resins that build up in you cars combustion chamber and restores you cars fuel system to like new condition, which increases fuel efficiency and performance.This service should be done every 50,000 kms. In the past it was recommended that you tune your vehicle up every 50,000 kms; however, today's vehicles are mostly using platinum, double platinum and iridium spark plugs which may extend the time between tune-ups. Some vehicles don't need to be tuned up until 160,000 kms; however, this can vary widely from one manufacturer to another.

I had Tim's inspect and recharge the AC on my 99 Chevy Silverado. While paying the bill they suggested I come back in a week so they could do a follow up check for leaks. I dropped the truck off without an appointment and went to to eat at Wa-Ku restaurant (next door) while I waited. Tim's found a leaky valve in the AC system, replaced it, recharged the AC again, during the hour while I ate, and at no cost to me. What more can you ask for?! Thanks for the outstanding service, I'll be booking my Subaru Outback in shortly.

As a mechanic myself I actually told my mom it was a good idea to go to this shop. Google reviews were good, it was close to home, it's not a franchise so the service is normally better. Boy do I regret that now. After misdiagnosing her vehicle, using inferior aftermarket parts, not tightening hoses and bolts, forgetting to put her dipstick back in, not test driving the vehicle after repair, speaking down to her and having straight up disgusting customer service; she has had to have the vehicle repaired elsewhere. Since then it has run like a champ. The only positive about this business owner is

This was my first time visiting this shop after my driver side window had some electrical issues. Dave was extremely understanding and professional over the phone while scheduling my appointment. Alicia, who was working the front desk, was equally as professional and overall a pleasure to chat with! I was updated very quickly with a quote that was explained thoroughly. Dave took a look at my old Subaru a few months back now when I was wondering if it was worth dumping anymore money into... Sadly the little Subaru was no longer worth it and Dave was committed to helping me find a reliable vehicle within my price range. Dave exceeded my expectations and helped me to find something within a few weeks time, it was a vehicle I had been interested in for some time, a Honda CR-V, which he sold to me for a very fair price! We called Tim's Garage about our '97 GMC Suburban was having starting issues. The nice lady on the phone told us that we could drop it off right away. Within a couple of hour I got a call from them telling me they had diagnosed the problem and quoted me the price. Got a call from them a short time later that our vehicle was ready to go.
