Services
As one of Tempe's best-known salon's, Altered Ego Salon is synonymous with quality, style, and reliability. Our salon not only has numerous loyal and regular clients, but we also welcome a stream of new customers. Many of our guests are familiar with my Mom's first salon. Sylvia's Hair Corral, established by my parents in 1983 and ran by my amazing, beautiful and talented mother Sylvia.

I have seen styles come go and come back again. I have grown a successful career and do so by continuing my education.
For hair touching the tops of the shoulders or longer. For hair above the shoulders. This cut is for those with natural locks of curl. We start the cut with natural dry hair so we can see where it lives. We will set it with Deva Curl products and diffuse. After it's dry, we will go back in and touch up any areas that need a bit more personalizing.

Friendly staff who, and I cannot express this enough, KNOW THEIR STUFF. Where most places have a good idea of what they are doing here it is as though the staff operate on a much higher standard. My wife went here to have extensions adjusted. The installation went flawlessly and was done better then any other extension shop in town

This salon is amazing! Every time I am in it is hustling and bustling. Not only can you get your hair done and buy great products, but now they have the cutest boutique. Beware, you will want everything in it! The service has always been top notch and the employees are so nice. Definitely recommend!!!

So sad, I've been crying for days over how bad my hair has become and how tawni, the owner is refusing to refund for an awful mistake. I've been coming here for years, I went in as blonde, asked for brown, the light brown shown below is a previous brown I had and would've wanted. I left with a very dark red brown, permanent. Called and went back to get it corrected, Carissa was the one who had no interest in correcting and made me feel like a nuisance turned it even worse, stripped my hair and put what seems to be an even worse color, ruining my hair. Went to get a color correction

I've been to a lot of salons, I've had a lot of haircuts. ANGIE is fantastic! She is one of those stylists who just understands hair and has perfected her skills over the years. If you are leery of going to someone new, don't be. You will not be disappointed in Angie. She listens and delivers on what you are looking for.

I needed to find a new stylist because my previous one stopped putting in as much effort to my hair. I've had blue hair for almost 2 years now, and was seeing the same stylist, and after my last couple visits, it was fading to purple despite going through the same aftercare every time. Altered Ego delivered, specifically with Drea! She spent 6 hours carefully tending to my (4 months) overgrown roots, lightening them as much as necessary, then fully saturating all of my hair with the blue to ensure full and flawless coverage. I'm so happy to have my beautiful blue back!

I’ve been coming to this salon since I moved to Tempe. They recently changed the prices of their services and failed to inform me until the work was done. If there is going to be a $20 difference in the service for example I usually pay approx. $50 for a haircut and it went up to $70 you’d think they inform me of that. Maybe when I call to make an appointment or at check in… it would be a good time to tell me that I won’t be paying the same amount. But you wait to tell me after I get my hair done? That puts me in an uncomfortable position because obviously I have to pay for this without

I absolutely love this salon! I have seen Drea twice now for a cut and a color and she is ah-mazing! Little fire cracker personality that can't be beat. She listens to what I want and gives her 2 cents, which is always better lol. IMO, blondes are hard to color and she exceeded my expectations! Will definitely go back to see her!!

Came to Altered Ego a couple of weeks ago for my first balayage hair coloring. I showed my stylist an 'inspo' pic of how I would like it (shown below). I think he could have done a much better job with my hair. My hair does not look like balayage at all, even my friends noticed (sadly), but rather highlights! Which is very upsetting. I also did not ask for caramel strips in my hair, but my stylist randomly did it. I am not happy with my hair from Altered Ego. I paid $180 and it was not worth it whatsoever.

Altered Ego is a wonderful local gem!! I'd been going to Arizona Hair Company for a while but they never really got my hair "just" right.
Jenny has done my hair three times and nails it each time! She's sadly moving soon but I am confident in all the other stylists abilities and plan to continue to be a loyal customer to Altered Ego.
Everyone is super nice and I never have any problems communicating/rescheduling if needed!

Made an appointment, received confirmation and arrived 10 minutes before my appointment only to arrive with the door locked and the lights off I'm assuming they are closed for New Years but it should have not allowed me to make an appointment and confirm with me when there was no mention of being closed January 1st.

Absolutely love how great Teri is! She did a fantastic job on taking out the old and installing the new Great Lengths! She hi lighted and blended beautifully! Blending is sometimes the hardest part for some and she did an amazing job! She’s a really great person and easy to talk to, the time flies by which is nice considering I’m in her chair for 3-5 hours each time! The time it takes and the pricing is average and similar to many other places I’ve been to. I’m so grateful I found her, she’s got lots of years of experience with hair extensions and it shows! I don't understand how this place has such high ratings. I came in to thin my heavy hair out and clean up my layers. I had long beautiful hair prior to coming here and now my hair is at that awkward length when you cut it short and it's growing out. I can't see any layers at all and I asked for long layers keep the length. 2+ inches were chopped off. On top of that there was a girl training with the owner (lady who cut my hair) who was shadowing her. The hair dresser was stopping to explain everything to her. I didn't have time for this as I needed to go to work after my cut

This place is great! Drea is an amazing stylist and colorist! She's so friendly and literally completely saved my hair color after a different stylist at a different salon turned my platinum blonde into a yellow/orange blonde. I've now been to her several times and I always leave so happy! Every trim, cut, and color I've requested she's matched to perfection!

I booked my first appointment with this Salon online nearly a week in advance and was left a message the night prior that they were unable to accommodate my appointment. The real crappy thing was that I did not see their message and I was sent a text that night confirming my appointment and asking me to text YES if I was going to be there. When I showed up and checked in I was in the lobby for 15 minutes before they let me know they did not have a stylist for me and I would have to reschedule for much later. The reason I made the appointment so far out in the first place was because I work evenings

This was my first time going to a salon over in Tempe, I just moved here. This is the one closest to me so I decided to try this one. I'm glad I did. Holly was my hair stylist and let's just say my hair was absolutely atrocious and she managed to make it feel and look so much better. Not to mention she was very kind and made it easy to feel comfortable and to start conversations. I'll definitely be going again :-)

Been coming here for years! I have thick, curly hair that I used to hate to deal with. At Altered Ego I have had great cuts from several stylists, and they all have taught me more about how to take care of my curls, make them happy, and my hair is so much healthier for it!
I also appreciate the safety measures they are taking with the pandemic. I have not had a cut in ages, and they made me feel safe.

I just got my hair cut 5/27/2020. The minute you walk in you are greeted!! For the Covid-19 pandemic you have to wash your hands and wear a provided mask. I didn't have to wait for the stylist Linda. She immediately made me feel comfortable. She knew my previous hairstylist. And had nothing but good to speak of. Linda did an excellent job with my layers in my hair. They are open for both sexes. They have a great coffee store connected. I highly recommend this salon .

I have found my new go-to salon! I landed on Altered Ego after seeing the positive reviews both on Yelp and Google. After doing a little instagram searching, I decided to make an appointment with Angie. She had photos on her profile which matched the cut I was going for. I had a great experience start to finish!
First, you can make an appointment online (I LOVE being able to make appointments online) without having to put in credit card information. The salon itself is super clean and modern. Everyone was very friendly and my appointment began on-time. Angie was great! She was super thorough

The inside of the salon itself is nice. Stylish and neatly decorated, often with seasonal touches. I've never taken advantage of the fact that the salon serves cafe' beverages to you while you're getting on with your appointment, but I love that they do have that option (and always offer at the start of your appointment). One day I'll get a service that is short so I can enjoy a cup of tea without fear of having to pee a bunch while in the cape.
My usual stylist is Amber. She's

live in Cali)! I searched for a place to go in AZ and found Altered Ego Salon & Spa. I went for an appointment this week and my stylist was Tiffany Kinnear.
First, the salon is so cute. Love the decor and it has an awesome barber shop and coffee shop attached! Really great environment.
