Because of the amazing $10aDay campaign, the BC Government is beginning to implement quality, affordable, universal child care. We need to keep government on track, ensure that every step leads in the right direction and push back against opposition to building a system of high quality, affordable child care for all who choose it. We need your help to make the Federal and Provincial Governments take action on their commitments to build quality affordable child care in BC!
Services
After years of neglect by previous governments, BC is now taking concrete steps to address the child care chaos across the province. Parent fees are too high, ranging from $800/month for preschoolers to over $1,000/month for younger children (provincial median). Too few licensed spaces - BC parents can't find or afford quality child care, especially for shift work, as there are only enough licensed spaces for 18% of young children.
The $10aDay Child Care Campaign is an initiative of the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC. The Campaign is led by a passionate, dedicated and skilled group of volunteers and very part-time consultants. Our leadership is collective. It honours the unique contribution each of us brings to the table.
Today, too many young BC children do not have the opportunity to participate in high quality child care. Across the province more than 30% enter Kindergarten vulnerable in one or more areas. The $10aDayPlan offers a quality early care and learning experience for every child whose family wants or needs it.
