Durham Optometric Clinic is pleased to announce that we are back up and seeing patients in our clinics. You will notice some changes in the appearance of the clinics and the way our team and doctors look. However one thing we can assure you is that the care you have come to expect from us remains the same.
With the support of local health units and the College of Optometrists we have instituted a series of protocols to ensure your health and safety. Rest assured there will be strict social distancing policies in office along with higher levels of disinfecting protocols in place. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Services
We will assess the general health of your eyes by performing some simple, painless, non-invasive measurements and determine whether vision correction is needed. We're also here to make expert recommendations for fitting you with the right glasses, contact lenses and prescription sunglasses, if needed.
Having an eye exam as a kid can be a scary experience for them if they don't know what to expect, but that shouldn't prevent them from having their eyes checked properly. We love kids and know how frightened they can be by doctors, so we go to great lengths to make the experience as comfortable and fun as possible.
Dry Eye Syndrome, or DES, is a condition caused by a lack of naturally producing tears. Tears are an essential aspect of eye health because they lubricate the surface of the eyes, keeping them moist and comfortable. When the body is unable to produce an adequate amount of tears, the eyes can begin to dry out, leading to itchy, red, and painful eyes.
Our doctors are well trained in both pre- and post-operative care of patients either interested in or having already undergone the procedure. Wondering if you're a candidate, or simply have questions about LASIK or other procedures? Stop on by and we'd be glad to talk to you. Already had LASIK but need a regular optometrist to monitor your progress?
When this type of eye damage happens, it's called diabetic retinopathy. It can lead to poor vision and even blindness. But if you keep your blood sugar and blood pressure levels in your target range, you can help avoid or slow the damage. Follow-up care is a key part of your treatment and safety. Be sure to make and go to all appointments, and call your doctor or nurse call line if you are having problems.
