The British Columbia Borstal Association is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that has been investing in community safety from a trauma-informed lens since 1948. We understand that trauma has a significant impact and the opportunity for prevention, intervention, and aftercare are imperative to support both individual and community wellness.

British Columbia Borstal Association works to improve community safety and wellness by providing root cause treatment, intervention, and prevention of trauma. The purpose of the British Columbia Borstal Association is to reduce the impact of crime in our community through support of those individuals and variables that affect public safety.
Services
An effective Board is vital to the operation of any not-for-profit organization. The British Columbia Borstal Association is governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is instrumental in the following capacities:. 3. Ensuring financial longevity through it's fiduciary responsibilities (fund acquisition, budgeting, audits, financial oversight).
BC Borstal Association seeks to achieve its goals through integrated activities of its three central roles: Prevention through education and training; Early Intervention with our skilled team of Clinical Counsellors when one faces abnormal challenges; and Aftercare for those who require skilled support to manage the impacts of these life experiences.
BC Borstal Association offers a number of workshops to organizations and community groups to broaden their knowledge and understanding of trauma and its impact on individuals, community and society as a whole. Our workshops can be combined to create full day training sessions as well. Our workshops are designed to be presented to groups of a maximum size of 20 participants.
Community Residential Facilities (CRFs), which are also known as halfway houses, are one of the most critical elements of the criminal justice process, and an invaluable contributor to public safety. CRFs provide an offender the opportunity to rebuild themselves in their preferred destination with skilled support, resources, and supervision until they reintegrate back into the community.
Affordable and accessible housing is paramount to personal safety and wellbeing. Below is a compilation of shelters, transitional housing units, single room occupancies and long-term rental units, as well as financial aids for renters and how to apply to housing registries. Emergency shelters are temporary but immediate places to stay for individuals without housing or who are at risk of homelessness.
