Hair By Design

I have been a client at Hair by Design for 12 years. I loved the staff and had an amazing stylist. Never left unhappy. In 12 years I've missed two appointments. The last one I missed was when my Father was in a severe accident and literally packed my bags to go Toronto to be there for him.
Missing the last appointment I was told by the owner that I had to prepay for my appointments. Seriously? I felt belittled and insulted.
I supported this salon through Covid by purchasing products etc. I've referred several people to this salon as well.
I now have found an excellent salon in Kanata

A big thank you to Sam, and her team for looking after myself, my mom and my daughter for doing our hair for my son's wedding! We were so pleased! We travelled in from Toronto for the wedding. I had researched salons in Kanata and found great reviews for Hair By Design. It can be anxious to try a new hair stylist, and throwing in trying someone new for the first time to prepare for a wedding adds a whole other level to the nerves! As a first time client, I was impressed with the level of customer service I received at this salon. After my initial appointment, the results were not what I had hoped for, even though the stylist was clearly knowledgeable, and had tried to fix it while I was there. The next day I received a call asking how I felt about my hair colour and offered a complimentary colour correction. During that appointment, the owner also offered me a complementary blow dry and some samples to go home with, I left much happier with the result! Went yesterday for a trim, color and highlights first visit at the salon Dani was my hair stylist she is amazing she tooks the time to discuss during my consultation my color is amazing she did a very good job she is very professional I will definitely go back to see her. I do recommend this hair salon nice friendly staff.

I left there feeling disappointed with a bob cut. But my stylist's foresight was really good. My hair is curly, so if im not straightening it, it curls the right way and looks fantastic! Im very impressed. The service was also excellent. Everyone was respectful and kind.

I couldn’t be happier with the excellent service provided by the employees at Hair by Design! Absolutely wonderful communication through email to book my appointment and answer my many questions.
During quarantine I succumbed to using a box dye which left with me with reddish tones, and was worried about getting my hair done after having surgery on my vocal cords because I couldn’t speak. Taylor was very communicative and made me feel incredibly comfortable throughout the whole process. She was attentive to my desired hair goals and provided excellent customer service throughout the process

I spent $224 on a botched blonde balayage. I requested Sam to do my hair but she said she wanted someone else to help her out. Sam did the back and Hilary did the sides. Sam told me up front that she couldn't get it as light as the blonde in the picture I showed, but said she'd try. My hair looked nothing like the picture afterwards, but wasn't that bad so I left. I didn't notice until I got home that the back turned out ash blonde while the sides turned carmel blonde. I called to express my concern and Sam had me come in the next day to darken the back to match the rest of my hair. 2-3 days later

Sam B has been my hair stylist for approximately 7 years and I have been so pleased with every cut, style and highlight she has ever done! Not only as a stylist, but also as the owner of the salon, her service and skills are phenomenal! She always listens to my needs and provides suggestions based on my comfort level and taste. Sam is pleasant, friendly and has a great sense of humour. The ladies who do hair washes and the ones at the front desk service also contribute to the salon’s relaxing atmosphere. On top of this all, Hair by Design is dedicated to supporting several charitable causes

I have been going here for years because the staff and service is exceptional! The atmosphere is comfortable and being an Aveda salon, the products are phenomenal. Kat and Emma are my personal hair gurus and have always amazed me with their skill and finesse, always exceeding my expectations and always making my appointment feel like an indulgent treat. I trust my hair to no one else but Hair by Design!

I went to this salon today and was so happy that they could fulfill my wishes. My colourist dawn was absolutely amazing and the owner was amazing I was so happy that they fixed my hair and came through in my crisis !!!! I will be back xo

Had a terrible experience at Hair by Design I would highly recommended not going there. Based on the good reviews I tried this place out... big mistake. I went in and specifically asked the hair dresser not to cut my bangs, however, I guess she felt that she knew better. The results were horrific -- large gaps, way to short, and uneven. Since the hair cut a number of people have asked me what happened to my hair, something I have never had happen before.

I highly recommend Katrina ' she doesn't cut any corners and is always updated with the newest fashions ! The salon itself has a very good atmosphere, I didn't once feel like i was rushed

I highly recommend going to Donna if you visit here. She's been my hairstylist for I swear almost a decade now and I recommend her to all my family and friends. She's extremely talented and such a nice person to talk to. You should definitely book in advance though because a lot of people seem to have discovered this gem so it can be hard to see her in short notice.

The rest of the staff are also very pleasant. The salon has been revamped and is super nice :) they're also an Aveda salon so it's great to have a supplier within Kanata.

Had great service from Bonita, who not only gave a very relaxing neck and shoulder massage, but also went the extra mile with the styling at no extra cost. I am now officially a "regular".

Was looking for a new hair stylist, thanks to Nazish, I found hair by design!

I just moved out to Kanata and was looking for something close by. This was right up my alley.

I booked with Becky for a Saturday morning. I was grateful to get an appointment on short notice, and excited to see what the salon was like.

The salon is a nicely laid out space, with lots of doggy decorations! All of the staff there are dog lovers.

I was offered a delicious coffee, which I accepted :) before getting shampooed.

Becky and I had a lovely time together, she did exactly what I wanted to my hair.

Love my colour! Love my cut! Love my style! Great job by Angie! The staff is super friendly and the place is clean. They just had renovations done and great deco. This was my first time here and I am visiting from Dallas but will for sure tell family and friends about it. Def go see Angie!!
