I am a Registered Dental Hygienist with over nineteen years in the dental field. When the legislation was passed in 2007 enabling Dental Hygienists to work independently, I had a vision. My Goal is to help individuals in our community achieve better oral health and to improve access to dental care.
My passion for the profession, my enthusiasm and specialized focus on geriatric care led me to open Muskoka's first Independent Dental Hygiene Practice in the spring of 2008. Since 2008, I have enjoyed providing our community with a choice of where they receive dental care. All equipment is fully portable, easy to set up and designed for small spaces.

Sarah Robertson- Smith is an Independent Registered Dental Hygienist in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario with over seventeen years of clinical experience. Since 2008, Gentle Dental has provided Muskoka's first home-based dental hygiene service, with a focus on caring for older adults.

What is Scaling? Scaling is the procedure in which bacterial soft and hard deposits "tartar" is removed from the teeth. The objective of scaling and root. What can I Expect with In Office Whitening? I offer free screenings to determine if you are a good candidate for teeth whitening as everyone. I provide preventive dental care to those who wouldn't normally be able to receive it by going directly into private homes and care facilities.
Observation of the soft tissues, gums, tongue, lips, throat, face, neck and salivary glands. Oral cancer screening is performed at each visit. Measuring the level of health of your gums & supportive bone around your teeth, to formulate our dental hygiene diagnosis. Do you have gingivitis or periodontal disease?

The objective of scaling and root planning is to remove hard irritants and aggressive bacteria which cause inflammation to the gingival (gum) tissue and surrounding bone. Option of hand, ultrasonic scaling or the combination of both maybe used to complete this process.

I highly recommend Muskoka Gentle Dental. We are fortunate that Sarah visits both my husband and I regularly in our home and my mother-in-law who resides in Long Term Care. Sarah is very caring and knowledgeable and has the equipment to perform complex and effective dental care in our home. I had the very best dental experience yesterday with Sarah, her name Gentle Dental certainly explains her approach, she was very gentle, I had no soreness the following day, her room was calming, with relaxing background music was certainly a pleasant experience! I will definitely be going back. She explained everything thoroughly, very precise in her cleaning. And I received the best tooth brush ever, love it!
