Richard Cook has been practicing dentistry for 28 years. He graduated in 1987 and has been practicing in Huntsville since 1994. We're proud to be an independently owned and operated Huntsville business. Along with our three hygienists, three dental assistants and an office manager, Dr. Cook is on hand to help our patients during their appointment.
At Dr. Richard Cook Family Dentistry, we're passionate about helping patients of all ages protect and maintain their oral health. Dr. Cook performs restorative dentistry, including composite resin fillings, porcelain veneers and inlays. Have you heard about the Wand? It's a computerized injection system that's available for most anaesthesia.
As most of us are aware, the best way to avoid the need for expensive dental treatments now and in the future is to brush your teeth and floss after every meal, or at least twice a day. And the best way to ensure that happens is to establish a healthy oral hygiene regimen now rather than later. It is also important to visit your dentist at least once per year for an exam to check for any problems.
Also known as endodontic treatment, a root canal is a dental procedure that removes infected, inflamed or necrotic pulp and nerve from inside a tooth and replaces it with a rubber-like inert material called gutta-percha. A root canal can help you avoid the unnecessary loss of a tooth.
Signs that you might need root canal therapy include severe tooth pain, especially when chewing; sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures; discolouration of the affected tooth; and/or swelling and tenderness or a recurring pimple-like growth on the gums.In some cases no symptoms are present. The success rate for root canal treatment is more than 95% and the repaired tooth could last for the rest of your life.

Also referred to as a dental cap, dental crowns are installed to restore the size, shape and function of a damaged tooth. Crowns are often recommended on teeth which have been heavily restored, are broken, or have undergone root canal treatment. A dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap". It is cemented over a tooth to improve the strength, shape and appearance of the tooth.

Been going to Dr. Cook for 20+ years. I've had nothing but good experiences with him and the rest of his crew. The hygienists/dental assistants are soft and careful and take pride in their work. During dental emergencies they have always gotten me in immediately, usually the same day. Definitely the best clinic in Huntsville. I'd recommend Dr. Cook to anyone in need of a professional dentist.

New to town and didn't have a dentist. I had a dental emergency and called around to every dental office in town. Dr. Richard Cook was the only one willing to see on short notice. Have been back a couple of times and they have been very accommodating to my schedule. Very clean a friendly environment.

Very unprofessional. Requested a late afternoon appointment for I was attending a court matter in the morning regarding the protection of my children. Unfortunately the court ran into the afternoon and I was unable to pull myself away from court. I was then contacted while in court by the office and they refused to reschedule to stating they tend to look for more reliable clients. Definitely not family friendly.
