Alberta Health Care covers one complete eye exam per year for patients ages 18 and under, and 65 and over. Additional exams and/or treatments may be covered based on medical needs. Medically Necessary and/or urgent care is also covered by Alberta Health Care. Doctors of optometry have the proper knowledge, tools and equipment necessary to diagnose, treat or refer to a specialist, if needed.
A routine eye examination is more than being able to see "20/20". Our philosophy is to enhance the quality of your life and to not just treat the "eyes" but to treat the "person behind those eyes" as well. At Bonnie Doon Eye Care we go above and beyond the minimum standard of an eye exam as we provide the full spectrum of eye care services specific to your needs.
Did you know that your child's first eye exam should be at 6 months of age? The eye doctor are checking to ensure that the eyes are healthy, that the eyes are working together as a team and are aligned and that the eyes are developing at the acceptable normative range. The next recommended visit is yearly after their first initial visit.

This is an excellent eye care centre that will take great care of you and your eyes. The Centre staff are very competent and create a very relaxing and professional atmosphere. I have trusted my eyes and sight for many years to Dr, Mehta and would never consider going elsewhere. The level of care, expertise, latest in diagnostic equipment and up to date knowledge of Dr, Mehta and the staff is excellent. I really appreciate the really excellent care I receive from Dr, Mehta and the employes. There is ample parking and going to the Centre is always a positive pleasant experience.

Dropped by for an emergency check-up after experiencing flickering in my right eye. The receptionist was super friendly and welcoming. After imaging, Dr. Cheng found that there was still some blood from trauma that happened a couple weeks ago. She was extremely patient, knowledgeable and honest with the limits of imaging and referred me to a retinal specialist. You only have one set of eyes and i appreciate that Dr. Cheng seemed to care as much about my sight as i did. Thank you!

This review is specifically about the pretesting part of my appointment, as Dr Mehta has been an amazing optometrist for me over the last 10 years. I was assisted by Audrey, who performed all the tests in a very efficient manner. I was slightly nervous about the IOP test, but Audrey did it quickly and caused me no discomfort, which was very reassuring. Furthermore, during the retinal examination, she kindly warned me ahead of time of the discomfort that would be caused by the flash of light, and explained the results of the test to me in a simple and thorough way. I was able to get two Thursday afternoon appointments for my kids with very short notice. The clinic was very accomodating. It's been two years since my kid got her last pair of glasses so I wanted to bring her in for a new prescription. My younger one also has never been to a formal eye checkup. Dr Ngo is very friendly and works well with kids. She also talks to the kids and explains to them what she's doing and what she's about to do. She answered my questions and concerns. The rest of the staff that we saw were very friendly and professional too. I also really like the location of the clinic

The staff here is fantastic and I’ve been seeing Joanne Ngo for a number of years. She is very caring and knows about eyes and eyesight. I had a prescription that was a bit off and went back a while later and Joanne managed to correct the prescription and I had no more vertigo after that. Very willing to correct anything wrong with your prescriptions without any fuss.

Dr. Mehta always takes time to educate his patients and answer any questions you may have. You never feel rushed during the appointment. He is very thorough, knowledgeable and personable. He has been my optometrist for almost 20 years and I have taken my kids to see him from their very first appointments onwards.

I had a awesome new patient exam with Dr. Mehta today, he was very professional and informative! I enjoyed him showing me the images of my eyes and educating me on the health of them. I was referred to Eye Care by my boyfriend and all of his family has been coming to see Dr. Mehta for years!! Great staff, great location, strongly recommend this office!
