Dr. Francis Walsh, B.Sc., D.D.S., B.A, was born and raised on the Alberta prairies, and graduated from the University of Alberta in 1985. Dr. Tyra Cross, BSc, DDS, grew up on Vancouver Island. She graduated in 2007 from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.

Digital radiographs (digital x-rays) are essential diagnostic and preventative tools that helps your dentist and hygienist see issues which are not detectable such as root position, decay, tumours, cysts, and bone loss. Digital x-rays reduce radiation exposure 80-90% from the already very low levels of traditional x-rays.
If a cavity is caught early your dentist can most likely treat it with a simple filling. Composite fillings are a modern material that does not contain mercury like silver amalgam fillings. This composite is also made up of smaller particle which allow you to keep more of your tooth and are a colour which closely matches a natural tooth.
Veneers are made of a thin material which is specially made to match your tooth colour before sliding onto your tooth. It can mask stains, chip or misalignment to even out your smile. Dental crowns, which are sometimes called "dental caps, " are used to fully cover one of your teeth. They effectively become your tooth's new outer shell.
We understand that some patients may be anxious when it comes to dental work and we will do everything to help. If you need an anti-anxiety medication we can provide a prescription for you prior to your appointment. Please inform our staff if you think you will require anxiety medication or sedation.

I always have a great experience here. From the front desk, hygienist, the assistant and Dr. Gillanders they are all great at what they do.
Yesterday I went in for my regular cleaning and had Kamal as my hygienist. She is kind, gentle, listened to my concerns and has the best "bedside" manner. You Kamal are amazing at what you do.

Do not go to this clinic. The staff is rude and unprofessional. They got my time for my appointment wrong and had the audacity to yell at me. They have a number of bad reviews so i guess that should have been enough warning for me. Think of the worst service you've ever received. This place is worse than that.

I’m not in Nanaimo currently and I was having extreme pain in one of my teeth. I called at open and told the receptionist exactly what was going on. She listened to everything I had to say, she was extremely empathetic and offered to talk to the dentist for me when she got in at 11 to get me antibiotics. By 12 I had a call from the pharmacist in Richmond saying a prescription was ready. I’m very thankful everyone is so efficient and understanding!

I had gone in to Harewood dental. I was in to get a filling and came out and it was sore like usual. After a few days it was still hurting, so i called them and got back in. Well i went back every month for the same thing for 7 months! It was on the last visit there they had told me that they could not really know of i need a root canal or not but they didnt seem to understand what was causing me pain. They decided to book me with a specialist to do a root canal, which is not covered by my plan. I finally decided to get a hold of my childhood dentist. He took one look in my mouth with his little

Great first dental visit for my 2.5 year old son. They were warm and inviting and he had an amazing first check up. They were also super understanding with the real life struggles of trying to brush a young ones teeth. It was a super easy process to get an appointment and we were really pleased with our first experience. We will be back!
