For me, Michael sought out an amicable negotiated agreement. He found the potential in 2 opposing sides and pulled it off brilliantly.
Michael is very well trained in colllaborative mediation and we were able to stay out of court to obtain our agreement. However with your confidence in his preparation he is never far away from a Judge if required.

I was happy with michaels work on my file. I had a collaborative separation and I would def say this is his specialty. It was pricier than I thought but I honestly didn't mind paying it because he worked hard to get me the things I needed from the divorce. I also appreciated that he took into account that I didn't want any unnecessary hard feelings as that would impact my kids. I did everything to protect them from this and he really took that into account while balancing interests.

I just today finished dealing with a custody change for my daughter. Mr. Butterfield dealt with it fairly and quickly and we managed to avoid court. I was most impressed how he dealt with my daughters father who has a volatile temper. He managed to keep him calm and word things in a way so that he did did not feel offended. Very impressive communication skills. Got the job done quickly and with the least amount of drama possible. This makes it beneficial for everyone including the child.

I would never recommend this lawyer. He may have skill with non conflict divorces but is way out his depth when it comes to contested divorces. Keep track of your billing also, he overcharged me three times in about six months. The kicker of my experience is losing every personal possession I owned due to his disregard of followup with my ex's attorney. I gave him an itemized list of all my belongings and he failed to contact the other sides lawyer before I signed the separation agreement. When I challenged him on his incompetence he told me to sue him. He then sent me an email around 4:30
