Constructed in 1928 the Royal Duke Hotel was formally known as the Willingdon and was a cornerstone of social life. The Willie, as locals called it, was the landmark spot to meet friends in the heart of Okotoks. The original structure was an immaculate 3 storey brick building.

Named after the Governor General of Canada at the time (Freeman Freeman-Thomas, 1st Marquess of Willingdon), the Willingdon remains a very important part of Okotoks history. We invite you to come experience our relaxed atmosphere. Try our tasty English & Western style menu while enjoying refreshments, and if home is far away or you're too tired to drive, book one of our modern, compact, comfortable, boutiquestyle rooms for the night.
With a mix of both English & Western cuisine food choices, our familyfriendly restaurant features delicious meals and finger foods that will satisfy everyone. I have nothing but amazing things to say about the Royal Duke! The staff has always been so friendly and welcoming and this is only part of the reason I have continued to come back!
Premium Angus cut in house, served with choice of side, fresh seasonal vegetables and homemade Yorkshire pudding. I worked for this lady for 2 weeks , she’s not a very nice person , then she let me go after 2 weeks and that’s fine I probably would have quit eventually anyway , but the fact is she didn’t pay me for those 2 weeks and I had a young child to look after , unbelievable not nice people and I will never step foot in this establishment nor support it , not nice people at all ! Doesn’t even deserve a star more like -5!

Fun atmosphere!
Extremely friendly staff!
Great pub food!
Our table orders-
Duke Burger with fries- burger cook perfectly, loaded with bacon, cheese and mushrooms and didn't fall apart, great taste.
Taco Salad- big portion and tasted great.
Wings- good size, large portion and all the sauces had really good flavor- dill pickle, salt and pepper, hot.
This feels like a place if you went twice they would know your name and would feel like a 2nd home.

Nice decor, good food, pleasant atmosphere. Beer choice is a bit boring though. Lots of identical watery lagers.

Enjoyed a late-summer lunchtime pint and bite to eat on the temporary patio area. Food was delicious and the Guinness washed it down nicely, all combined with friendly service. Hope the patio will be back next year - whatever the future is I think these outdoor areas should be the new norm.

Busy night at the Duke, but they had lots of staff, so service was prompt. Friendly, too.
My wife had the schnitzel, and I had the bangers and mash. Both were very good, with big portions. If I had a criticism, it would be that the gravy could use a bit more flavour, and the schnitzel could have had more gravy on it.
All-in-all, quite good.

Good pub style food (my husband is a burger guy and this is his favourite) and our boy likes to order cream soda as its served in the bottle. Waitresses are always super nice. Prices are competitive and food is consistent. Looking forward to checking out their new seating options.

While I have never experienced actually staying in the Duke hotel, I've been to the food joint and it is absolutely incredible. Every time I have friends over I suggest that we go on a little dinner date to the Duke and we share a big plate of steaming hot fries. It's like a tradition. The food here is great, as is the service. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone with a mouth and tastebuds.

Exactly what you'd expect from an English pub with rooms attached.
The rooms are small and the bar is fun.
We stopped in on our way through town for a night and they had rooms available on the day of the reservation.
After arriving we got our room key and went straight to the bar for a few pre bed drinks. The local crew was fun and upbeat, very welcoming.
The room itself is very European.. . Ie.... small. But it wasn't advertised any other way, and for $95 A night it was fine. There was a late nightish crowd that left the bar pretty loud around midnight but I guess that's to be

Simple, clean, reasonably priced rooms, and above a nice pub. Very casual place with friendly staff. It's more of a 'boutique style' place; smaller staff... sometimes your server might be checking in a hotel guest, so don't be shy about saying hi to let them know you are there. We had a nice stay.

We stopped in for a beer on Sunday, sat for 10 minutes (unhelped) watching / listening to the poor girl who was working alone. She flat out told a table 'I hope you're not in a hurry!' so we just left - didn't want to stress her out anymore than she clearly already was.
I'd think that they'd have more than one person working on a weekend in the summer, especially in a large place like this?!

Really nice pub/restaurant. Very good food and nice choice of beers. Friendly/good service & cool decor are nice too. I'll go back.

WARNING about their website. Web Of Trust reports the Royal Duke website has malware of viruses. For this reason alone I will not stay there this week as I really don't want to risk infecting my computer. You should address this Royal Duke!

Renovation was a huge improvement, I love the atmosphere in the duke. I feel that they have the best wings in okotoks, beer selection on tap is good and beer is always cold. Service is good, and friendly I would say this is probably my pub of choice in okotoks.

In January we made a reservation to spend a night in July. Then, two months before our arrival date we had a change of plans and had to cancel. We called the hotel and got a confirmation number from a woman by the name of Jessica that she had cancelled our reservation per our request. Now, when we don't show up on our original (cancelled) date we get billed for the missed date. The owner claims he's never had a Jessica working there (like I'd make it up?)

I have no idea how nice the hotel is - and I don't intend to ever find out.

Have now been informed that it wasn't

The Royal Duke is an extreme improvement over the Willy.

The bar has gone from an old westerner bar to a hip and new bar with a great interior. All of the staff have been very nice and friendly as well.

The prices are about average with bars, without many specials that I've had the opportunity to take advantage of.

Good place to go and have some drinks and hopefully I can get back there to try the food soon as it looks good as well!

I searched Yelp for pubs in Okatoks, and this one caught my eye.

We were lucky to get a table on the patio, because it was a beautiful, sunny Saturday. They have Stella on tap which is one of my favs!

We ordered nachos, which were nothing special, but the server was friendly and prompt, and sweet.

The only annoyance was there was a table of obnoxious drunks a few tables away. They were loud, stumbling, and one kept tossing down his shot glasses after doing a shooter, and smashing the glass. Clearly they should have been thrown out, but I think they were loyal alcoholic regulars that obviously

Wow! Talk about a face lift.

The Royal Duke used to be the Willy Pub & Inn... bye bye Willy... Helloooooo Duke! The big reno happened early this year and they've been open since August.

First impression is a 10 out of 10. What a beautiful reno.

The ownership is brand new as well and quite often you'll see them (Guy & Barry) walking about, serving customers and making sure all is well.

My wife went out for dinner last night and seeing that we live in south Calgary, why not head to Okotoks and check out the Royal Duke.

The menu is pretty nice - a little bit of everything. We

Formerly the Willingdon Hotel (known by many as "The Willy"), this place has been completely remodeled inside and out. It is situated on the corner directly across from the Town of Okotoks office in what is know as Olde Town on Elizabeth Street.

They have a good selection of 10 drafts, bottled beers, as well as wines, but even better is the food menu. I had a mouth-watering steak for lunch that was done to temperature and taste with a mountain of fries. Good size lunch crowd after only being open for 3 months this place will do very well. I can't wait to go back and try something
