I've been here multiple times with simple requests. Both men that work there were condescending, rude, and conniving. They size you up and if they think they can't get enough money out of you they try to shoo you away. Any high reviews on here are from friends or family members. If you want to get ripped off, taken advantage of, and demeaned then these are the Jewellers for you.

My family has been going to Garo's for decades because of their friendly service, reasonable pricing and beautiful, high quality pieces. Their repairs are the most reasonable in the area and are done so well that you can barely tell your jewelry was broken to begin with. Highly recommended this place for your next jewelry purchase!

They TOTALLY LIED to me and tried to "prove" that my 18K gold wedding band was ONLY 10K. DON'T TRUST THIS PLACE !!
Am new to Pickering as I moved in with my GF and figured I should sell my wedding band. When I got there they looked at the band with their eye piece then asked me if I knew the Karat. I knew it was 18K but they said it was only 10K. I told them again that it was 18 and then the guy went into the back to "test" it with their acid test. He scratched the band on some kind of stone and then put some droplets of Acid on the scratch. He then said "see

Arthur was amazing as my fiancé and I were inquiring about an engagement ring. Very disappointed with watch battery replacement experience.
Watch wasn't working, assumed it was the battery, brought it here to have it replaced (they charged $13+tx). Watch still didn't work properly. Brought it to point of purchase where it was explained that this watch takes a special battery (the watch is solar powered, and takes a capacitor $60+tx. It was explained that the original should still be fine, just needs some time in the sun to charge) - when they opened the watch, the place for the capacitor was empty. Returned to Garo, but when confronted they denied responsibility.

Tried to contact them through their website (has a form instead of a direct email) about their watch repair services but did not get a response. They are located within the Loblaws by the east entrance and unfortunately one of the few places listed in Pickering offering watch repair. I think Hudson's Bay has services still if you need alternatives.

Had a battery replacement for my watch couple weeks ago. After having the battery replaced I noticed immediately there were scratch marks confined to one particular area of the watch that were not there before. The area with the scratch marks looked as if it was scraped against a hard surface. I questioned how the battery was changed and was told the face of the watch was placed against the palm of the hand. I really must have been fooling myself into thinking this guy would actually admit that he scratched my watch. Now I really understand why he was so nice in offering me a $3 discount at time

I took a gold ring and a chain in for some work and the ring was "fixed" and not as originally discussed. I gave over an old additional ring to have a signer ring repaired. Somehow I never got the remnants of my second ring back - it was not used on the repair of my signet ring. My chain was for my girlfriend and a link was broken, when it was return to me the chain was not flexible any more, it was a pendant chain, and worse still it had been soldered with silver solder. Be aware before having this jeweler repair any of your fine gold jewelry. June 2009
