Evolve Engineering is an electrical engineering consulting firm that was incorporated in 2013 and is located in Victoria, BC. The firm was started by Nik Alcock, an established Professional Engineer with over 30 years of experience as an electrician, engineer, project manager and principal. Our technical staff work locally in our Victoria office.
Evolve practices in multiple sectors which range from small office renovations to $600M+ healthcare facilities. We develop designs for new construction as well as complex renovations. We apply the same design principles across all sectors of work: develop high quality, well-engineered designs which meet the users' short and long-term requirements and represent a good investment for the client.
The existing Central Victoria Veterinary Hospital (CVVH) has been serving the Victoria community for over 40 years. Owned and operated by VCA Canada, the existing hospital supports the veterinary clinic and provides the only 24/7 emergency pet care in the Greater Victoria Area.

As the existing facility is operating at capacity and relying on ageing infrastructure a new 3 level veterinary hospital is being constructed adjacent to the existing hospital.Evolve has been engaged in the design of all electrical, communication, and security systems.
Evolve worked with Island Health to design replacement and upgrade of the failed main 4000A 600V switchgear, while taking advantage of a rare opportunity to mitigate the existing single points of failure.

The revised switchgear design enhanced the redundancy, flexibility, safety and maintainability of the hospital's main power distribution line-up through provision of interlocked backfeeds, equipment bypasses, and options to supply emergency power from alternative power sources.Downstream distribution equipment was also modified with tie-breaker schemes to enable power to be supplied from multiple sources.
