Rockwood Veterinary Clinic
Here at Rockwood Veterinary Clinic we want to communicate with pet owners as part of a team with the pets care and well being as our primary goal. Owners need to be able to describe what they see at home, behaviours, and "symptoms" in order to help our veterinarians better understand your pet's needs and medical condition.

As veterinarians we need to listen carefully and use the client's observations and our knowledge to provide the necessary care. Trust is very important in this relationship. We want our clients to be comfortable with the recommendations that we make. Clients need to understand their options for care, diagnostics and treatment, and then make an informed decision on how they wish to proceed.
Services
Your primary contact at the clinic is with reception, doctors and technicians, but we also have some fabulous staff behind the scenes that you may never meet! Dr. Clare Maine the original founder of the clinic graduated OVC in 1989 and opened Rockwood Veterinary Clinic in 1995. They are working hard in a chaotic and often noisy environment to make sure that your needs are met.
During surgery and other medical procedures, our team of veterinarians and veterinary technicians monitors all patients to ensure their safety. We monitor every procedure, regardless of whether it's routine or more advanced. The type of anesthesia we. Our veterinarians are experienced in providing basic care and treatment for some exotic companion animals, including ferrets, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, and rabbits.
Our veterinarians and staff are devoted to staying on top of the latest diagnostics, treatments, and wellness programs to maintain your pet's optimal health. Let's work together to keep your furry friends happy and healthy! To get started, we invite you to check out the What to Expect page and Take a Tour of our veterinary hospital.
When you arrive at Rockwood Veterinary Clinic one of our friendly receptionists will check you in. Once you have checked in, we will weigh your pet and one of our team members or doctors will see you into the exam room. The Doctor will then meet you, gather basic information about your pet's health, examine your pet, talk about any questions or concerns you may have and plan further diagnostics or treatment as needed.
We want our patients to have the best possible outcome. This is why we sometimes make the decision to refer patients to veterinary specialists or specialty clinics when advanced training. Can I call and have you fax a copy of my pet's rabies certificate and proof of vaccinations to the kennel where my pet will be staying?.

Warning: they will try and con you into keeping your pet overnight and here's the kicker: there's NO staff to watch over your pet at night. It's all about money, money, money. It's a business before it's a service. Go somewhere else if you're able to.

Amazing people working here. They helped me with my baby after being ripped off by another vet and I’m very grateful for Dr. Roberts and his staff. Kind and caring people.

Took my dog here today for a dental cleaning. They REMOVED 16 of his teeth without even calling me! I didn't have a chance to get a second opinion. Absolutely unacceptable. I cannot believe the performed such an invasive procedure without even contacting us.

The people at this clinic are so great. Just called about my momma cat and the receptionist was a huge help and a wealth of knowledge - like talking to the vet! She took time to discuss options for care and I feel so relieved about my cats situation and the care she'll receive. Thank you thank you!

I see a lot of positive reviews on this animal hospital, but I do not share that opinion at all. I feel like they are all about $ and not about my dogs wellbeing.
The price changes each time I make an appointment - I paid 50 bucks for a check up in Hamilton, this place recently quoted me 70 which is ridiculous.
I took my dog in for his shots last month and pointed out a lump on one of his legs, instead of giving me his ' expert' opinion on what he thought it could be, he sent out a bill with the vet tech to have it removed without addressing what it could be or anything. I decided to get another

I have heard great things about this clinic but I just called to make an appointment and I had a women answer my phone call... I had a question about the clinic, not even about my pets and before I could say anything she said she was not qualified to answer any of my questions and was acting very rude. Then I proceeded to ask if they are taking clients outside of the area because of the pandemic and she just said she wasnt even qualified to answer that and was quick to get rid of me.
I feel that the person at the front desk should be able to answer this simple question. After this poor costumer

I've been dealing with them for years, and they're absolutely amazing. My husband and I have a German Shepherd puppy now who has always been scared of strangers. They are very understanding of her and know the difference between a scardy cat, or an aggressive dog. They are very quick with their appointments but explain everything throughly. I highly recommend them to everyone!

We have always had very good experiences with the staff at Rockwood Vet clinic. Many pets, over many years and I would not want to trust my furry family members with anyone else. I have never felt that I was entering a business, but a friendly atmosphere where they treat your family members as if they were theirs.
